Comic book quickies double feature ! Again !

JUSTICE LEAGUE #19

written by geoff johns art by ivan reis

Big batman likes. What a guy. The goff man's running with modern internet teachings that the bats has a plan to take down everyone one. Even members of his team. Which is cracking. Because of course he dose. He is batman after all. Omnigod of creation ! The niffty wee plot of the issue is what if some one stole them plans. Which sadly is a little shite. Seeing as some guy just broke into the batcave. It cheapens the cave I think. Ayes maybe the league and that know about it but that's enough likes. For some guy to rock up to it and take down Jason todd AND Alfred is a little shite. Like the joker couldn't get in but some punk ass JL villain could ? I'm no having that. Though having said that my gut tells me the intruder is bats himself. Because sometimes he's a cunt like that. Aww wells. We'll see likes. Wonder woman thaw. She's quite horrible. Like her and superman just jump into a country and free some hostages putting the justice league in some political hot water. Which really I was fine with. Lest they were saving lives and that. But she genuinely thinks she's a god god. And by that I mean yes she might be an actual god or dimi god or what ever she actually is but she THINKS she's all powerful. That because metas are strong they should rule the earth and do what ever the fuck they want. Its like she forgets that villains exist. Ands that when one pops up she normally gets the shit kicked out of her. And that yes. She could probably take A green lantern. But probably not two. And definitely not the whole human lantern ranger team. To be fair. Superman's a lad about it. Telling her to calm doon. She totes flys off the handle at bats though. Huge mistake there.

SUPERGIRL #19

written by mike johnson art by mahmud asrar

Gotta love it when a solid comics keeps being solid. Once again. Supergirl fights a fool. Basically. Job done guys. Lets all go to the lobby and get ourselves some well earned snacks. Its all good. Life that is. Being alive and reading supergir. You have to admit there's quite a vibe to that. Its that sunny dc continuity vibe. Ayes you could just be reading superman. Fair play. But you were aww like. Naws. Lets give big supergirl a try. Good on you's likes. Its a damn well nifty made comic. Now yes its not going to set the world on fire. But it really dosent need to. Its just a solid wee book ware supergirl fights a fool. This issue we get double the bang for our buck. Two supegirls ! Well supergirl and power girl. Heela cools like. Iv not read much with power girl in it but I do here good things about the character. Also if its going to be a whole buddy cop adventure I'm totes up for that. As you know I'm slightly partial to that whole sub genre there. Its kind basically my soul. We also get some shameless costume damage forcing a costume change this issue for powergirl. That's indeed something all right.

AMETHYST #7

written by christy marx art by marc andreyko

Amethyst number seven should be subtitled the return of the swagger. Because yes sonny jims. The swagger has indeed retuned. It did wobble a bit last issue. Eclipso really felt a bit shit. He sort of gets a better chance to shine here. Cutting about the fantasy world being more fantasy if you get me. Like he's using magic and that. They do a good job of integrating him to the world. Hells, having said that I dinny ken a thing about the first amethyst from back in the day. Maybe eclipso was always a thing. Hmm. Utter shames on me. Apart from that there is still a lot of plot happening. Like if your looking for a comic ware things happen. This is the book for you. Because things indeed happen. Like folk die son. They just die. Important folk. Folk with big things happening. Its interesting. I didn't think they'd kill off the movers and shakers this early. But as we've already established I don't understand the world any more. Its fine. Amethyst is still a damn fine comic well worth reading. Like you there. Eric ! You ! Should read this book !

GREEN LANTERN NEW GAURDIANS #19

written by tony bedard art by andres guinaldo

Kyle and the team get there shit together after being mind raped by the first lantern. I really cant get over how amazingly none of the team were taking the first lanterns shite. It really was gurren lagann ish. Perhaps even laddish of them. Damn laddish of the writer to be sure. Now this issue didn't quite live up to the last two. It was if I'm being honest a little bit like filler. You what son. That ok with me. This was filler used to surprisingly good effect. Remember that last issue of actual green lantern ware sinestros home planet got utterly wrecked ? And it felt surprisingly hollow ? Well we get some follow up on that here. We get to see the aftermath and sinestros rage at it. Which is neat. We also get a nice bit of kyle trying to use the white ring to bring back the planet. Which if you ask me is way cool. Kyle IS white lantern after all. He kinda is a wee god right now. It dosent go well yes but at least he gave it a go. So far I am likening this event. Its a lot more fun than the last one, though that may not be all that a hard thing to be. I'm not missing the mad guardians. Yet.

AGE OF ULTRON BOOK SIX

written by brian michael bendis and drawn by folk. Its confusing.

I'm starting to feel it. No. not the actual event. The HATE for the actual event. Its beginning to snake its way threw my body. It feels good. Hate is always wonderful. So like I said before. I couldn't really bring myself to actually hate. Age of ultron. Its a dark dystopian future and all the bleak negative tropes that come with it I cant really complain about. Its just what thee going for. Things get really stupid though. And that too would be fine. Thing is this is the issue ware things start to effect the marvel universe. Kinda. We'll see ware it all gos in the end. But for now. Spoilers I should say. Wolverine has went back in time and killed hank pym. See that son . See aww that. FUCK THAT. That's just about the worst thing iv ever read. If I didn't know better I would have thought it was written by mark fucking miller. Its sick. Its the most modern cut writer of a thing to do. The hell happened to you bendis ? And how did you get over it so amazingly ? Sigh. I just don't know what any thing's about any more. Well. At lest I still ken sue storms a massive bastard. I go as far to say she's the worst human to ever live. Because shes there. She could have easily stopped wolverine. But she didn't. Because I duuno. She just wants humanity to suffer. Its totes her thing these days. Maybe. Just maybe Ill one day eat tho's words. Its difficult to tell ware every thing's heading. This event has been massively pish so far but it might end strongly. And even then It might be a know event seeing as there's another marvel event just wrong the corner. Ahh wells. Always remember what sue storm did here today. Or rather. What she didn't do. And forever hold it against her.

IRON MAN #8

written by kieron gillen art by greg land

Offft yes. Have I ever mentioned how I bloody love gillens iron man ? Because DAMN SON its just utterly cracking. It has virtually everything a I want from a good comic. Action AND banter and of course. The most important element. SPACE. Fun space that is. With aliens and robots. And big ass laser beams. God damn love space. Has to be said. Also gladiatorial combat. That's in the mix here too. Big tony stark is fairly good at the auld gladiatorial combat. Ayes it probs happened to him a thousand times before. But I like to think its thanks to those combat lessons from the living legends big captain America. There's plot to be had here as well. The transforming drinks dispenser pulls off a dramatic double cross bringing the mad celestials crashing down on house. Fantastic. I genuinely thought they were dead. Didn't they die at the end of hickmans ff run ? Doom was all up in there grill and I seem to remember something about galatus and his CRAZY wrestling skills. Aw wells. Those mad god lads are always a lot of fun. We don't actually get a fight between them and shell head. But that's fine likes. Them just being there was enough for me. So ayes. You should really give this run ago. So don't be put of by land. His art really works well here. Yes. No fooling.

THE SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN #8

written by dan slott art by humberto ramos

ohhh mahhh hgawd. SHIT JUST GOT REAL FOLKS ock is fully aware of yami peter. I expect card game based buddy copping within the month. Its goona rock.. yes it is. Search your feeing internet person. You know it to be true. Are people REALLY still down in superior out there ? Whits rang with you. Its grate stuff. Ayes. Its different. And sometimes a little weird. And ock has gained a touch of the grim dark for some unknown reason. But its fun likes ! And its still as well written as the rest of slots run. This issue was a lot nifftyer than last. Well I thought so at least. Don't know what it was last time. I just wasn't feeling the vibe for some reason. Shame on me. This time though. I was feeling it. It was a lot more continuity er. There was some call backs to tocks plan too cook the world from ends of the earth. Which is nice. Seeing ock confront the fact that ock was all for whipping out humanity in what mas be a few weeks to months ago in in universe time . Ayes they do say it was last year. But hey. That still not all that long ago to be a genocidal mad man. Its all fun's likes. Now some might say that I jumped at the the spoiler reveal a little too early there in the review. And they'd be right. But come on now Ted. We all sort of knew that things would one day work themselves out. And now here we are. Hopefully it will go well for auld yami peter. As iv said many a time before. He's quite the lad.

so this JUST became a double feature folks !

MASKS #6

wtitten by chris roberson art by dennis calero

I like zoro. What a lad he is. Just cutting about pulp hero times. Ha ! Cutting about. Sometimes I just crack myself up. This was a fairly ok issue I have to say. Now it didn't knock my socks off or anything. But that's ok. It was fine. Kind of more of a transitional issue. Getting everyone where they need to be. Now if it was my decision I wouldn't have any of that. But fair play. I get why it needs to exist. So like I was saying. Its a neat issue. All told. Lots of nifty wee character moments and interactions. And we get a quick peak at what seems to be the big bad. No complaints really. Every things moving along nicely. Sadly that really dosent give me much to talk about. So ayes. It gets my coveted seal of approval ! Damn quick quickie there.

JUPITER'S LEGACY # 1

written by mark millar art by frank quitely

this was shite. I gave it ago and it was shite. Lets just move on.

BATMAN INC #10

written by grant morrison art by chris burnham

TAKE FLIGHT BAT GOD. Guys. Its happening. The batgods going to war. And I really have to say. Big bats isn't pishing aboot. Like its agaist everything he stands for but wouldn't be surprised if he just dosent kill the fuck out of talia. Like at this point she pretty much deserves it. So batman inc has kinda fallen. Like bruce has disbanded it but dick is carrying it on in secret. Cools. Bruce kind of gets edgy sometimes. I don't want to say he makes bad decisions during times like theses. Because he omnipotent. Being a god and all. Its just you know. Writing and all that jazz. For some reason he man bats up. Which is cool. I'm not really sure why. Dose he need that extra powah ? I just assumed he'd rock up to Wayne tower. Clear it out floor by floor like the beast he is. As man batman he IS piloting a suit of power armour. Now guys. Logic can fuck right off. Because that is awesome. The image of him screaming towards Wayne tower is hella striking. The bat god unleashed indeed. So yeah. Damn fine issue. We're getting to the end of big morrisons run as well. Not sure how to feel . It wont be the same anyway when he's done and gone. That's for sure.

FF #6

written by matt fraction art by joe quinones

READ FF. I'm telling you folks. You should be going out there to your friendly neighbourhood comic shop and buying FF. Why ? For the god damn AMAZING breakfast vibe. Yes. That right. We git a bit where the team just sit about and have breakfast. Yes. I shit you not. Its the most perfect thing iv ever read. The vibe was off the bloody charts. Best two pages of a comic ever you ask ? Hmm. Yes. Yes. A thousand times yes. In recent years thanks to rebuild of evangleion 2.0. iv come to think of launch as the beast meal of the day. Thanks to this comic I may have to re think that. You know. Some comic do have the power to change how you think. They can reach deep into your brain and change you. FF is definitely one of those books. Its doing very important vibe based work. Oh ayes. There was plot that happened. It was all quite nicely done. Medusa has gone mad ted and abducted bently or some pish and the yancy street gang canny be deaing with ms thing. Its just all that really just gets over shadowed by the breakfast. Like just thinking about it right now. Im not sure how I can go on with my life. I just want to keep relieving those two pages. Those two perfect pages.

FANTASTIC FOUR #7

written by matt fraction art by mark bagley

So how much of a colossal bastard is reed Richards like. The answer is utterly. Reed Richards is an utterly colossal bastard. Yes. We already knew that. It seems everything he dose is will dick off someone at some point down the line. Thing is. That's what this entire issue was about. No joke. Maybe I'm missing something but the plot this month seemed to be to make the team as un-likeable as possible. Ayes the things natural lad field protected him from the worst effects but god damn son. The team are transported to the end of the universe by god franklin and then are taken in and help by some nice aliens who've decided to stay and watch the end of time. Fair play to them. There the same dudes that sent blastaar to the big bang last issue. And for some reason. Some MAD reason. Reed takes this as an insult. Ayes the aliens plan isny aww that amazing but reeds aww. That's dumb ! I'm the smartest there is ! U should do my plan ! The aliens are aww naw thanks son its fine. Reed like go's off in a huff and steals the big bad monster. Saying you cant just drop your problems in the past. AND THEM EMEDIATLY DUMPS BLASTAAR IN THE NEGITIVE ZONE. The actual fuck is reed on ? What im I missing here. EVERYONE bar the thing was soo god damn un-likeble. Goosh ! I just don't get it !

UNCANNY AVENGERS #7

written by rick remender art daniel acuna

Yes. I have to say comic. I'm totally feeling the vibe. Its absolutely rocking ! Uncanny avengers isn't the easiest sale. That is to other folk. Most of it is utterly cracking. To me at least. There some wee niggles here and there. Like cap no being the red ranger or the mutants just being bastards because well there mutants and apparently the x gene means your physically incapable of ladness. The whole publicity team angle is a slight bummer too. EVERYTHING ell's though. Its off the gosh darn charts. Plot wise it kinda sort of looks like the mad celestials are going too war with earth. Once I again I genuinely assumed they were dead. Really should check up on that. Well one of them did “die” this issue. Dropped by some apocalypse punk. Cheap ayes. devaluing the whole space god thing. Definitely. Mr sinister did pilot that one celestial like a mech though. So really. Its not something to worry about. S.w.o.r.d. How amazingly shite are they likes. It seams every time they pop up in a book something they own explodes. You'd think some would get on that. Yes. So. Buy this book. Its pretty damn rad.

THE FLASH # 19

written by brian buccellato art by marcio takara

Oooofft. Hold on to your hats sports fans. This was a comic and a half. Let me tell you about big Barry Allan. Humanity's god king was without his powers this issue. The folk over at dial h stole them. Fair play you all say. Barry was in a prison being attacked by mad max villains though. So it was a tad inconvenient for him. Dose humanity's grateist hero let inevitable grizzly death dampen his spirits ? DOSE HE FUCK. Lad just solids snakes up and cuts about the prison being amazing. Arming himself with all the rouges auld gear. Barry flinging boomerangs about is a sight to see. Let me tell you that son. As you might be able to tell I quite enjoyed this issue. It was amazingly solid. Ayes the resolution to the plot was a tad shaky but ill totes forgive it. It was just so nicely written. Lots of fast paced but smart action and some genuine moments of comedy. Its just nice to see a hero who dosent crumble when his powers are taken away from them. Fuck. Barry dosent even gee a shite. He's all. It deal with it later. Lad. This might be the first comic iv read in the new 52 that has cyborg actually being happy. Hell. He's smiling most of time. Guys. He even cracks a joke. Ayes. Absolutely cracking comic. Reverse flash coming next as well. Yay !

ULTIMATE COMICS SPIDER-MAN #22

written by brian michale bendis art by sara pichelli

So massive massive spoilers guys. I guess. With the latenesses all up in here I suppose it dosent matter any more. But miles mum died. I think ? She got like shot in the armpit. I guess fatality ? The fuck is wrong with miles family. Apart from him there like all to a man, made of plastersine. I assume when his dad fines out he'll die of hart brake or some pish. Miles dose seem to be staying with big gankes family though. I do like that. That could possibly generate one hell of a vibe. Building lego all night and that. Though I spose grieving for your tragically dead mother could put a dampener on things. Oh weels. Gotta look on the bright side of things. At least miles has something to drive him on now. And you never know. His mum might get a clone at some point down the line. Worked out well for gwen. And venom was just some guy that worked for roxcon. So ? Good I guess ? At least it wasny big eddie brock going about being mental. But he dose that anyway ? I forget that last thing eddie did in the ultimate verse. Its been I while since I checked up on him. I gotta say. I liked this issue. It was a little sparse for my taste but it did have a big moment for miles. So a guess it all evens out. Fun times !

TEEN TITANS #19

written by scott lobdell art by eddy barrows

So for yet another month on the trot teen titans was once again a mixed bad. Now logicality I should jut say it was terrible. Because it really kinda was. Not offensively bad but not really worth reading either. But I dunno man. There were some parts here and there that I did at least enjoy even tough I cant bring my self to say they were actually good. So trigon just attacks earth. Like on his own. He's just cutting about new York I think on a 3 headed horse. No real build up or anything. He's literally just a big red guy going about toon. And I kind of dug that. And damn son. This trigon is hammy as hell. You'd think a big cosmic devil god wid have less banter. But no. he's making one liners and such. Really he seemed to be doing quite a bad impression of Dr doom. I can sort of here actual teen titans fans screaming right now. So red robin is still possessed or what ever pish is wrong with him. Its somewhat hard to tell the difference. Red not all that nice of a character to begin with and now that he's being almost comedicaly evil. I'm almost tempted to say its an improvement. At least he's a little bit entertaining now. Oh yeah. Like a hundred folk like actually die this issue. Just so causally. And not as you would Imagen because of trigon. Some punk as akira kid is just going about mind crushing fools. At one point a whole gaggle of army folk just drop dead. In a single panel. And the titans are loike. Oh nose ! This will make us look bad ! Fuck off with that that shite comics.

Comic book quickies march whenevers

THE SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN #5

written by dan slott art by giuseppe camuncoli

Aye. So aye. Aye hi hi ! Big superior spider-man. That slott. Just blasting them out. No complaining likes. I here slight rumblings that it well end soon ish . Which if true is a damn shame. I'm fairly likening big doc ock and yami petes adventures together. Now ayes. Big ocks no aware of pete. Yet. Hopefully when it happens both party's will be cool about it and set out on a buddy cop adventure. This issue was pretty gid. Ock gets a new supporting cast member in the form of a crazy amazingly one piece ish science chef and he deals with massacre. Now ayes. Ock MIGHT have shot him. But I'm guessing because they didn't show the actual death that he's no actually killed him. We shall see though. Time will tell. Dinny ken how to feel if he has killed massacre. That's a step too far. Even if the bastard deserved it. Like the bastard REALLY dossny deserve to live. Aye. Now that's the point of his character. But I dinny know man. Him just killing folk left right and centre just kinda takes a lot of the fun away. Maybe its just me. When you start putting villains in story's that just kill folk it kinda takes some of the magic away. Like aye. The hero probably shid kill him. That just makes the hero less hero ish if you ask me. In super hero comics that is. And aye I know there's plenty of killers in auld spidys rouges gallery. I dinny like to think about it like that though. It spoils a certain amount of buddy copness for me.

IRON MAN #7

witten by kieron gillen art by greg land

Glorious ! Actually glorious ! The had me at iron man in space but then the backed it by actually making it good. It was a little concerning likes. The first five or so issues were classy monster of the week fun. Aye there was an over arching plot but the individual issues were ooo so monster of the week. So moving it to this we bit more ongoing plottyness was slightly concerning. Well not really. But it is marketed as a tie in / aftermath to last years A vs X. which is slightly weird considering we're now onto the next big event. Don't let it put you off though. Its cracking stuff. What's not to love. Everybody's at least a little fond of auld shell head and space its self is way wicked. Rad even. This issue we get big tony stark cutting about space jail dressed as a jedi bantering with his transformer lawyer buddy then shit gets amazing when tony takes to the arena to clear his name with a spot of gladiatorial combat. atualy love comics. Now aye. Greg land is STILL on art duties. Its still fine though. Id go as far to say it even looks a bit gid. Controversial I know. The glossiness just sort of works for this run. Its no bad thing. Also his name is fairly easy to spell. That makes me happy.

ALL NEW X MEN #8

written by brian michael bendis art by david marquez

Mmmmmmm. Ayes. Tasty comic right here. Damn likes. We live in a world. With a good x men comic. Now now. Calm doon likes. Calm doon. I troll. I'm sure there are some damn fine x men comics out there. It just was never my bag. I admit that. I'm just no a big x men fan. This though. Hot damn. This is an actual comic. I wasny too hyped when we aww herd big bendis was leavening the avengers and moving to x men. Aye I was aww like ill give it a go. Genuinely wasny expecting to like it. Not enough to continue with it. How god damn amazingly wrong was aye likes. Now one of my esteemed colleague said to me recently this was possible the best of the marvel now stuff. I kinda have to agree. The only thing that could contest it would be iron man. On its best day though. All new x men has been both constantly grate and cranked out at rapid fire pace. canny fault that. Like in no way. This ish mostly focused on angel and kid angel witch is gid. Kid angle seemed a bit fun and it was nice to see him get a bit of time to banter about. Also the avengers made an appearance. inevitable but very nicely done. They had to find out about the original x men being in the present at some point. And yeah. Jean grey is like waaaaaay evil. That's already a thing. For some reason. Cant really explain it or give you any context for it. Its not like she's a super villain. But if she was her actions would make more sense. Maybe scots just made of evil and contact with him turns others evil. Those wacky x men. What are they like !

AGE OF ULTRON BOOK ONE

written by brian michael bendis art by bryan hitch

So this happened. Genuinely wasn't expecting it so soon. It actually stealthed its way up on me. And it was fine. Nothing to flashy and nothing too bad. Well there was one thing but we will get to that in a bit. Aye. So ultron. Meh ? Is he really that big a deal ? I know it dosent really matter. But I duuno man. I like robots. Robots are way cool likes. I'm no knocking robots. And I know ultrons probably kicking about with an army or some super weapon shit but last time he started shite the avengers took him doon in like a arc. I mean. Just look at that cover. Do you believe he just took all those fools ? And FUCKING hawk eye is the last man standing ? I just dinny believe it. God damn hawk eye likes. Its mostly him we follow in this first issue. And I'm fine with that. Really I am. I'm sick to god damn death of hawk eye. But its only the first issue. And's I can take it. Ill complain if he continues to be the focus. So it seams ultron has won and the marvel heroes are cutting about a dark escape from new York future. Cools. Loota room there for fun stuff. This issue really didn't do much with it but really that's what most event number ones are like. Aye so over all it was just fine. Nothing mind blowing though the art was pretty gorgeous from hitch. Lots of wreaked architecture and that. Now see that one big thing that was wrong with it ? That be the last page. Offffft that last page likes. There's not a single thing they could have done that could be more offensive to my sensibility. Right. So get this. Big captain America. The legend of our youth. Is soo broken by the apparent victory of ultron that he has to sit in the corner and cry. Aye pal. FUCK NO. I don't care how badly the heroes lost. I don't care how many people died. I don't care how utterly hopeless the situation is. At no point would captain FUCKING America give up let alone sit in the corner and sulk. It widdny matter if he was the sole surviving human being on the planet. That man would be out there. Fighting the fight ! Did anybody see how he dealt with the last days of fear itself ? Shite looked hopeless then. His shield was broken. Dude just ladded up and carried on. Admittedly he went a little insane but he did so in a lad way. So aye. Little disappointed in you there bendis

HAPPY # 4

written by grant morrison art by darick robertson

Ayes. So. Spoilers right. Better run if you dinny wanna here em. Because son. I'm just goona spoil the ending. Ayes so right. Here we go. So happy right. I think happy has a happy ending ! I know right ? How awesome is that. now I say I think it has a happy ending. I could be wrong likes. I could be interpreting it wrong or missing the point of certain bits and the last page in particular. But if I'm right how awesome ! Bloody big morrision likes. He can certainly do the dark stuff all right but most of what iv read from him him has ended well. And now we can maybe even add happy to that list. Cracking stuff likes. Last week I talked about how morrison gets comics. And he totally dose ! Now this issue really shows that off with a big cavalry charge from an army of imaginary friends. I gosh darn love cavalry charges in fiction. Its those big damn heroes moments that really are a huge part of why I like comics and films and that. There those very special moments that get across the purest emotions and joys. So aye. Happy was pretty damn good. Bleak as ALL FUCK. But ultimately well done. And we hope. We really hope. It was a deliberate parody of the work of mark miller. We hope.

GREEN LANTERN # 18

written by geoff johns art by alex sinclare and ardian syaf

Cracking adventures in the death zone ! Goota tell you. That's one happening place like. Seems like every cunt is hanging about there theses days. Trendy ass bastards if you ask me. Well they are dead. So that's goota be a downer I guess Wells I spouse there only kinda dead. Its confusing. Still though. This issue we get the first meeting of simon baz and big hal jordan. It dosny go all that well. Mainly because of sinestro. That big bastard. He went a tad ring mad. Slightly understandable because the universe is in danger. Still not the lad thing to do. Aye so by the end of the comic sinestro and baz are once again in the land of the living but hals still stuck half dead. He gets a weirdly awesome moment ware he considers suicide so he can become a black lantern to escape. Lets see how that plays out. It could get AMAZING. So green lantern likes. Its a whole thing isn't it. Its kinda like DC's biggest thing. Kinda actually is likes. Well aye batman and superman and that. So yeah. Green lanterns like the third big dude in book terms. And has been for ages. That's pretty nifty loikes.

DETECTIVE COMICS #18

written by john layman art by jason fabok

Dinny let that cover fool you. This issue has almost NOTHING to do with the death of damian wayne. Almost comically nothing to do with it really. There's like a page ware big Bruce is at the grave and is aww. Damians deed. Aww wells. Lets go drop in on the penguin. See what he's up to. Now it be aww well and fine if batman was raging. Just dropping fools left and right. But naw. He's incredibly calm. You'd expect him to go brutalize the penguin. But naw. He just beats him doon wea the banter. Good likes. Must be those legendary bat god nerves of steal ! Why shid the bat god care about the fate of lesser beings ! I kid though. Its probably because its a different writer and or damian isn't actually dead. We will have to wait and see really. Gid issue though. Detective comics has this damn interesting vibe going on. Its really quite special when I think about it. Its realistic but fun. Actually its a bit more than that. Its kind of difficult to pin down or to put into words. Basically I like it. And that's just awesome. Its got the penguins patter doon. That's important. The previous run had some bits and bobs with the penguin but honestly they felt a little boring. not so here. The dudes a bastard AND fun. Good combo likes. Its helps that there's a penguin plot going on ware he's losing his shit. Both figuratively and literally. So aye. Good times.

GREEN ARROW #18

written by jeff lemire art by andrea sorrentino

REALLY quite likening green arrow. Yes. Yes . This is actually happening. Not to be disparaging towards the character or trying new things. You know. I think its safe to say we're all just set in our ways. Too auld to change or come to a new way of thinking about things. No ? Just me then ? Fair play likes. I'm a pretty static guy. Change to me is a little bit like the devil. Now this issue. This issue was incredibly metal gear. Green arrow go's and gets him self an otacon and stealth's about a office looking for clues. Then during the cliff hanger he seemingly falls to his death while his new otacon shouts arrow ? ARROW !! ?? so ayes. Hella metal gear. Now that's a very good thing. Like evanglion metal gear is a great thing to blot to an existing franchise. The writing and art also combine to make things fantastically 90s. again its one of those thing I find hard to describe. But it feels very 90s. Very late 90s at that. Hella x files ish if you get me. Like if 1998 was a comic. This comic would be closely related to it. Ayes. So amazingly good comic. Id recommend it to pretty much anyone. Aye. Its yin of them bastards.

comic book quickies 8.2.13

Dark days friends. No action comics this week. Offt likes. I don't remember action being late before. I think its come to all of us as a bit of a shock really. It was always a solid week one tittle. Always there for us. Waiting there in the corner with its not quite perfect but occasionally AMAZING-nes. Now its probably the only way this thing could have went but I really don't like that books have lost there place in the four week cycle. Before I could be aww like. Aye. Aquaman. That's a week four book. Or like. Aye. Batman. That's totes a week three book. Fuck knows ware there at now. Cast adrift on a schedule-less sea of madness. Sad really. Well no. it was inevitable. These things happen likes. Delays in making the book and wanting to promote it at different times. Its fine to be fair. inevitable is bad word though. Sickened that I had to use it despite its rightness. Damn fun to say in an agent smith voice though. Bumper week all in all. Despite the grate loss of action that is. eight books in all. Surprisingly no clunkers ether. One of those weeks ware I just read threw everything in a flash. That's always something gid.

ALL NEW X MEN # 7

written by brian michael bendis art by david marquez

Big bendis likes. He's still on form. Still knocking it out of the god damn park. I'm STILL buying x men comics. We live in that world now. Shock AND horror. I was never that big x men fan it has to be said. My exposure to them was limited to the 90s cartoon and the films. Now the 90s cartoon was pretty rocking. Instilled in me a life long love of cable. The movies were fun too. The SHEER vibe of x2 likes. Magical almost. Defiantly a true movie of the summer of my youth. The comics though. I duno likes. There's just so damn many of them ! Do people really love the x men this much ? Yeah. They probs do. Not me though. All new x men though. Its probably because its bendis. As we've discussed before id probably follow bendis off a cliff. Its just so lad-ly written likes. Everybody's just so fun and un bastardly. Yet. These are the x men we're talking about after all. They'll probably drop a asteroid full of angst on the earth at some point. For now though all new x men still brings the momentum AND the fun.

SAGA #9

written by brian k. vaughan art by fiona staples

Classy indi comic booking at its best. Has to be said. Now there's a long and interesting story to why I'm reviewing this issue late. It involves industrial espionage and ninjas. I assume. The box containing saga went missing on its way to my local. Well that was nether long nor interesting. Hmm. None out of two ain't bad ! Canny beat a good bit of saga. Well mudman can. In my eyes at least. Probably not in the eyes of pretty much everyone ell's in the world. Fair play different tastes and all that. Saga is a class read though. If your a person and sentient. You'll probs love saga. Iv said it before and ill likely say it each time I review saga. If you read it. You'll love it. Not entirely sure why. Probably because its cool. Just plain cool. Cooly cool if you will. This issue is a wee spot light on the will. The caped bounty hunter dude. Seams pretty cool like though we here he's a right bastard. Shames like.

ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #20

written by brian michael bendis art by sara pichelli

Gotta say. I got pretty much everything I wanted from this issue. A big fight ! Too many comics theses days go for talking and banter instead of the pure glory of combat. Its a damn shame. I'm sure iv made this exact point like a hundred times before so lets move on. Aye so this issue milles gets into his first tussle with venom. Or a venom. Symbiont's in the ultimate verse are weird. There was that one in ultimates 3 that was like a doom bot or something. Dooms a cool guy no matter the universes like. Any way's miles's first fight with the inky nightmare go's relatively well. Aye well miles dad might be dead/ dyeing. So like I say. Relatively well. Miles dad ain't really that cool of a guy. Bit of a punk really. Bit of a buzz kill if you ask me. Now I'm not wishing death on the poor fella. Just saying he could stand to be a tad more interesting. Like who the fuck takes being awesome and makes it out to be a bad thing ? Miles's dad that's who. I'm sure its commentary on parenting attitudes or some shite. Its just not for me thank you very much. Venom though. Gotta love venom. He so fighty. sept when he isn't. But he is here ! I think we can chalk this issue up as a win pals.

IRON MAN #6

written kieron gillen art by greg land

Aye so Tony stark is cutting about space now and this comic is pretty much everything you'd want from Tony stark cutting about space. He gets into a space battle AND then try's to bed a space princes. He invokes star trek while doing it too. What a lad. What a SPACE lad. Its took a long while likes but were finally here. Finally here at the final frontier ! Yas ! Knocked that out of the park likes. Ayes so stark left fer space in the last issue of the last run. But he didn't because marvel now. But he's out there now. Being the most starky he can be. Good on him. Iron man in space could be very fun. And indeed this comic was fun. That's all I can really say to back up this run. Its fun. What more do you want from a comic ? Aye greg lands still doing the art. Its probably shite. Don't personally care really. Its fine for suit stuff and other assorted robot junk. Yes his space woman are just as porny clone-ish as his earth woman. That's funny likes. Deaths head makes appearances in the issue for like a single panel. That's something all right. Don't really ken ware all this space stuff is going but I hope it keeps up this issues levels of fun.

SUPER DINOSAUR # 17

written by robert kirkman art by jason howard

Oh super dinosaur. You wee super amazing Saturday morning cartoon. What are ya like. Astoundingly braw is what ya are. Cause that's what super dinosaur is. A Saturday morning cartoon. But like from the 90s. In vain of street shark or the biker mice from mars. Mainly street sharks. DAMN that was a show. Back at this issue we've got poop jokes. Poop joke every ware ! A little rude ! Still very kid friendly is the thing. Oh and action packed. Canny forget that. So not only is there an inner earth there's also an inner moon too. Populated by bug people. Who eat poo. Fucking love comics. Like.

MUDMAN #6

written and art by paul grist

Oh fuck yes. Yaaaaaaas. Its back ! Its back in the game ! Big mudman descending from the heavens on wings of excellentness and .... mud. Aye I foooooooking love mudman. Might just be my favour comic. Thinking about it I most likely say that a bout a lot of comics. So mudman is like the all time champ out of all of them. Mudman and one piece. Thems the two buddy cops of greatness. A lot of mudmaans fantastic un defeatble amazing greatness comes from the Britishness of the book. Not gona lie guys. Morrison's the supermarket makes an appearance this issue. Humanity just got better people. FUCK depression. FUCK recession. Mudmans making it all better. Morrison's is in the god damn GAME. That's another thing. Mudmans sort of fearless in its references. Like its not some off brand Morrison's. Its actual Morrison's. Also music from the cure appears, and its awesome. Gona buy mudman likes. To me its utterly perfect so to you it but be at least passable. Worth a pick up if you ask me. As a balancer I should say that mudman the character was a little whiny ish this week. Not all out unbearable whiny just a little teenage asgnsty. Its possible that's a bad trope necessary for cultivating the teenage super hero vibe that mudman dose so well. Reminds me of ultimate peter parker a little bit. Least we forget despite his utter ladness ultimate pete could be a complete bastard from time to time. Teenagers like.

SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN #3

written by dan slott art by ryan stegman

Right. Deep breaths pals. You might actually want to sit down for this. Superior is still perfectly fine. I know ! SHOCKING to here isn't it ? Man this is something I think your going to have to learn to cope with. A comic that has a history of being fine. CONTINUING to be fine. Aye its scary stuff that consistency is. But your all big boy and girl comic readers now. I think you can handle it. Now I may be being to overly optimistic but I have faith in you guys likes. Its ock spidy vs the vulture this ish. Vultures a bit of a weird bastard all said. Using wee kids as mooks. Sets ock off rageing as it makes him flash back to when he was beaten as a kid. You feel bad for the bastard I guess. Its hard though. Ocks dad was the one beating him and yes beating your kids is very wrong BUT I cant stress enough just the sheer size, density and funcktasticness of papa ocks mustache. I could totes take a solo comic for that facial hair. Its that rocking. Yami peater parker is still a treat to behold. He's not in it as much as last issue but the ghost buddy cop vibe is still there in full force. Fuck yeh buddy cops !

DETECTIVE COMICS #17

written by john layman art by jason fabok

Damns. Almost missed this off here. Don't really no what happened. Almost went with out creating an entry for detective comics. Thought I did. Looks like it disappeared actually. I blame ghosts. About the actual comic though. I'm really quite loving this run. Its well written and has good art. BOOM review done. I'm out o here. Well I'm back. Ill say more on detective. Its cold out there likes. Aye so detective comics is a wee bit of an under dog. Going a wee bit un-noticed in my neck of the woods. Two reasons for that. The first run of the reboot was a wee bit shite. I don't think many people will mind me saying that. I liked it. It was grungy and a tad mad. Good combo if you ask me. It just wasny all that amazing. The second thing that keeps this detective run down is batman. No not the character. That be mad actually. Batman ruins book about batman. There's a head line for bizzaro world likes. Naw I'm talking about the main batman book. Its un godly good. Like just a damn proper read. If your going to buy one bat book your going to buy batman. And that's fine. You shidny have to buy a thousand different books for the same character even if that characters as legendary as batman is. This detective run though. Its damn decent. I Definitely say its worth a read. Aye its not as good as batman and it may be a tad silly in places for some peoples tastes but I do quite like it. Its got a good vibe going for it. The story a bit gritty but off putting and the arts detailed but actiony. Aye. What I'm trying to say is. Gee this run a go. You probably most likely wont regret it. Blame ghost if you do. Not me. Definitely don't blame me.

Ten or so comics you should probably take a gander at in 2013 at some point

As iv said quite a bit recently its a damn good time to be reading comics. In my humble opinion the quality of both marvel and dc's output has increased. Ayes the marvel now campaign is a pretty shameless attempt to cash in on the new 52 but fair play likes most of what I have read of it has been genuinely entertaining. The one big casualty has been the loss of high numbering for books and the loss of history that come with it. Yeah that just ain't right.

First up I have to give an honorary mention to mudman. Mundan is mind brakeingly amazing. Some the finest comics I have ever read. I don't have the words to praise it high enough. Nooooot sure if there will be an issue of it out in 2013 so I don't think it should go on the list proper. Like aye it probably should go the list now that I think about it. Nah. Its fine here. In first place. Not really. But aye.

All new x men

In its short wee life all new x-men has brought the world a truly wonderful thing. Bendis back on form. Holy fucking defoe is that a beautiful achievement. It seams being free of the avengers books has reminded auld bendis that he's actually a pretty good writer. Every things just done soo well. I admire that bendis is aware of Cyclops and his massive cuntness. Big magneto is still the voice of reason on team Cyclops. Try to understand that for a moment. Not only did mad auld Mr genocide have the moral high ground over Cyclops during A vs X. He STILL HAS IT. Now to get me to read a x men book you'd have to do something pretty special. I don't particularly hate the x men. I just don't have the time to learn about there own wee corner of the marvel universe. No one really dose. What it being a huge god damn corner. A wee universe into its self. All new x men succeed though with its quite fantastically gimmicky plot of time travelling young scot summers to to talk some sense into his future self. Cyclops being soo far off the deep end he wont listen to any reason. not even when its him self. Aye. You've hooked me. Also beast is kinda dieing. He's fine though. The production rate is wonderfully fast. Its been like a month and were at issue five. So quantity AND quality. All new x-men has a fair bit of both.

Amazing spider-man

So there's this wee book called amazing spider-man. Its had a surprisingly long run. Over the last two or so years its probably been the best thing on the shelves. Aye fair play it might just not be your thing. It has to be said though AMS has been consistently amazing for all of dan slotts run. Now that's really something for its twice a month schedule. Aye its a had a few not so amazing issues. But only a few. Like maybe three or so issues. Its a shoncky time to be singing this books praises what with amazing spider-man having controversially ended this past boxing day. Issue 700 is something you'll have to read and make up your own mind on. Personally I thought it was quite well written. Hitting all the tropes that make spider-man who he is. In bizarre and probably unnecessary way ill admit. Everything before that in slotts run though. Utter gold. Spider-man at his most spider-many-est. That's a recurring thing with me. I quite like it when characters are written as themselves. Being all there capable of being. So aye the books currently on skakey ground what with not existing so id HIGHLY recommend checking out everything from the start of the big time arc onwards.

Aquaman

Now yes. This new version of aquaman isn't the brave and the bold version. Yeah. I know that hurts to here. Its a gut kicker all right. The new 52 reboot was the perfect time to insert him into actual canon. Fuck knows what the dc big wigs were huffing. Somewhat fair play in that goff johns run has ran with the aquman is a joke thing. Aquaman isn't quite the lad he should be. If you can get past that though there's a lot in this run to like. Namely its amazingly Saturday morning cartooness. Its johns special technic to be sure but there are issues latter on that really get it across. Basically. Atlatian millennium items. Aye. See that happy soul you now have. Thank aquaman and the fact he has a book again. There's actually an aquaman event kicking off right now crossing over with justice league. Its damn niffty stuff. Epic wide screen blockbuster action movie niffty at that.

The flash

Now I might be incredibly wrong and if so disregard everything I'm about to say or for that matter have ever said. But I feel the current run of flash dosent get as much love as it should. Its another one of them very comicy comic book. Lots of super heroics and fun plot happenings. What really sets this book apart is the FANTASIC art. Now a lot of books out there have terrific art and a lot of them have grate writing to full that art. Flash's book is one you could probably sell on the strength of its art alone. It makes me very happy that the writing here is as fun as the art. Iv read few books ware the writing was shite but the art was melt your eyes beautiful . I'm looking at you early red hulk. Barry allan became a bar tender for an issue. I feel I speak for the human race as whole when I say this should be Barry allans default civilian job. Fuck police work. Tending bar is the man's SOUL ! It was a rogues bar to boot. See that's the kind of thing that gets you on a prestigious list like this. Also there's this gorilla invasion thing happening. But mainly its the bar tender thing. Go read it. You'll completely understand me.

Iron man

Right now iron man is basically tough act to follow: the comic. Surprisingly I think to everyone. Its been going quit well. The last run of iron man was a big deal as a far as I can tell. What can I say. I was late to the party. This marvel now run of the book has been brilliantly enjoyable in its surprisingly goodness. A sure fire way to make a wee house in my heart made of stone and discarded deary lee tubs is the monster of the week plot. Basically bolt power rangers to your book and you've got me hooked. Now yes I should probably address the poorly drawn elephant in the room. Aye greg lands on art duties. Annnnnnnnnnnnnd at the risk of being shot before the council of the internet. Ahh dinny think the arts alllll thhhhhat bad. Like it is. But I don't really care. The armour bits work fine its just the whole human thing that might be a bit off putting to human readers. If you can get past that your set. Special mention has to go to issue two. Which might just contain in its controversially drawn but fantastically written pages. The seeds of the future. Here me out on this one. Its amazingly shonen.

FF

FF is one of them new young uns iv been reading from marvel. Now aye its not really all that new as its just a renumbering. It has to be said though with the new creative team the books shooting for something completely different. That being wacky silver age fun with modern day banter. Now aye its for too early to say how that's worked out or if it will continue with that vibe in mind but I do quite like it as it stands. Plot wise its a sort of a buddy cop book to the main fantastic four book. A new fantastic four has been assembled to look after the earth as the real fours off universe hoping instead of curing cancer or working on that whole super villain problem. Fair play the true fours only meant to be away for four minutes in our time but of course something go's wrong. Its a book that had a fair bit of buzz in my local area. Mainly because of the super cool silvery age looking art. Have to say the first issue didn't really do it for me with its almost bendisie talking heads but issue two more than made up for that in my opinion. Again its one of those young books but it makes this list with the great amount of potential its shown so far.

Batman

What more can be said about Scott Snyder's current run on batman ? Its pretty much perfect after all. Possible the biggest barnstormer of a comic of the last two years or so. Definitely the big mainstream book to read and the one to suggest to new people just entering the world of comics. Its perfect for that actually. Its just the right level of awesome and batmmanyness to entice new readers in. It started off strong with the court of owls arc and hasn't really faltered along the way. I may have some personal grievances with it but there really not justified in any factual way. Batman really is the A bat book. Since the re launch its the best written and has the best art as well as haveing far and away the most Zeitgeist to it. Its a shame really. Synders success has taken away morrisons crown of being the head batman guy. Some would say fair play. Batman incs probably to silly for a lot of people. I get that but it is a damn shame. I had some concerns at the start of the run that this new younger rebooted batman couldn't fully live up to the bat god of the recent past. I think I was almost completely proven wrong on that about mid way threw last year when batman metaphorically / sort of kinda actually hulked out into the bat god. That was a crazy issue likes. My only concern at the moment is the current story line with the return of the joker. I'm just not digging it. I get that its well written I'm just not digging the vibe of batman actually having to try. Blisteringly good read despite that. Id advise you to pick up the run quick. The first printings are selling for silly money these days.

One piece

Now yes this is kinda cheating. One piece is a manga and the rest of this list is about comics. Iv betrayed you I get that. Just a except this and move on. See if your not reading one piece right now or if you've never read one piece or even if yon just not a fan of any manga. Go read one piece. Like right now. I don't mind how. Just go and read it. It'll be good for your soul. Barring that ill be good for your well being. I'm not sufficiently levelled up to describe to just how perfect one piece is. But understand this. It IS perfect. Like in every single way. Now aye I here saying its just a wee shonen manga. Nothing special Naw pal. That's amazingly wrong. The problem here is. I genuinely don't have the words to describe to you its perfection. Just go out there in to big world and find some one piece to read for yourself. And I feel like that's another important factor. I feel you need to experience it for yourselves. Own your own. Its not something I can hype up for you and make you want to read. So ether go out and find volume one or if that dosent fully absorb you, mad bastard that you might be then go out and get volume fifty. And then if you don't like it please get yourself checked out. Because you night not have a heart.

Green lantern new guardians

Yes. A fairly controversial choice ill give you that. From issue one iv gone on about how the lantern ranger book Is just a wee bit shite. And aye it was a bit shite to be fair. But here's the thing. It got FUCKING AMAZING. The story of New guardians fills my broken auld heart with almost pure joy. Books can change likes. They can surprise you. Just cause there shite for like a whole year dosent mean they'll be shite forever. I'm being harsh of course. For most of its run its wasn't properly shite. It just wasn't living up to its full potential as a lantern team book. That and the art while not bad was a bit generic. Which was endearing ayes. But towards the end of the first year got to me a bit and its charm sort of wore off. So id recommend you pick up new guardians from its zero issue onwards and join kyle rayner on his quest to become a master of all the lantern spectrum. It may also be worth picking up again for all of you that dropped the book early on. I thank my mad dedication for helping me endure the first arc.

Saga

Gonny just read saga. Like just gonny. No matter who you are. You'll probs love it. That's been my experience of it. For example. I love it. Concerning its more mature content I should probably hate it. But there's the thing. I do love it. Aye there's some bleak bits here and there and there's a fair few bits of it that are too far out for my likening. Its most likely because its just written so damn well. Soo much banter. Like every ware on every page. If you like banter this is the comic for you. Aye space banter. Its gid though. Now I could be wrong but I think this is my first experience of indi book doing quite well. Now aye its image so you may not call that indi. I would but your mileage may vary. Its nice though. To have a trendy wee book hitting the big time and being universally loved. I might just be speaking for my self but I think its something we as a comic book community need. From time to time at least. If this list was a proper count down saga would probably be down here at number one. Its just soo comic booky that it deservers it. Well its earned it actually. Id recommend you pick up the first trade. Its out the now and its only about seven pound. So bargain there.

Right so there you have it. My list of ten or so comics you should probably take a gander at this year. All of them are books I'm currently reading and get a kick out of. I hope you take a wee peek at a few of them. Give one a flick threw in the shop if can.

Byes !

Comics the now

Hullos !

Comics right now are pretty damn good. I cant really remember a poor week for ages now. I guess there's a few reasons for that. I'm buying a wee bit more books now. Long gone are the days of only picking up amazing spider man. Damn they were good times. Now marvel has caught up with DC and have started putting out there new stuff. I'm a bit bummed that there renumbered books haven't had a synchronised launch but that might have been a bit too much like the new 52.

Aye I think ill still call it the new 52 on here despite it being auld and not exactly the same 52 books. Its been damn good though. Kept up the pace pretty well. Batman's been there top book since day one and I'm still loving it. The book got off to a rocking start and even though I had my doubts when it looked like that bat god would break snyder pulled it back in style with the silliness of the end of the court of owls and this new bat perfecting his YOUR INSANE paunch. Right now bats is onto another mega arc with the joker back in town starting shite. Its damn good. Ideally id just want an instant bat god win. But for the sake of drama its damn gid.

Action comics its fucking insanely brilliant. Like fucking insanely god like in its awesomeness. At times. Sadly its has its ups and downs. Now the downs arny really downy downs there just not highs. Which is a shame. Now that last issue just gone. #13. hoo lee fuck. Had me crying manly tears. Superman rides to the rescue of a mission to mars base and its apparently British crew. Super man at his supermanyist. A fusion of superman , Dr who and gurren lagann ! At times it felt like Morrison was writing it just foe me it was that spot on to what I like to read about.

Aquaman by the way. He's a bit of a lad. Well no, not really. He's just the standard man on a mission character the big goff likes to write. The aquaman book though. Now there's a hell of a lad. Like all comics its had its ups and downs. Its opening arc had some gosh darn fantastic moments. Establishing everyone in the DC verse thinks of aquaman the way the real world thinks of him. Id have personally like to see him just being the brave and the bold version but the loser hero was an alright way to go. The recent aquamans 90s anti hero team arc could have went badly but the team showed there true colours as not an anti hero team at all but a RANGER time. That last arc had a hell of a Saturday morning cartoon vibe. Its geof johns I know that's his thing but god damn it was glorious. It was the atlantian millennium items that did it for me.

The guardians of the galaxy continue to be moustache twirllingly evil. Its damn entertaining to watch. Sinestro and hal were finally getting down to the serious business of being buddy cops in space but they got sucked into a death hole. So theirs a new green lantern kicking about earth. Surprisingly cool dude. The preview images made him look quite the dick. Running about with a gun. We dinny need another John Stuart. Well no another current comics John Stuart. A justice league cartoon John Stuart would be joyously welcomed with open arms at this point. Aye so the new guy. What's his name. Cool dude. Canny fly yet. Drives construct cars. As fast as the flash. Like I said. Surprisingly cool dude.

Now marvel. Marvels fucking insane. Like proper loopy. Not entirely sure why. But they are. Big news was amazing spider mans getting a renumbering after issue 700. that's a huge kick in the balls. I feel like they renumbered it before and it didn't take. So we're all probs taking bets as to when it resets. Bigger news was that it might not be peter under the mask after 700. now that's probably the biggest ball kicker of the year. Maybe that hole Disney star wars thing. Its defiantly a big deal. Now normally with this kind of thing you'd just write it off as a desperate attempt to build up hype for a book. But here's the thing. Marvels fucking insane. We're at the point ware they could actually kill off peter god damn Parker. In the year of his 50th anniversary and a recent film release. Now I'm not all that up to date on it but hopefully its just dan slott the eternal lad taking the piss. But if not. Calm the fuck doon marvel.

Now despite there insanity they do make quite fine comics. Avengers vs X men was pretty well done in my opinion. Not to everyone's taste I expect. It really was a lot of fighting. But I have to stress. Damn good fighting. Cyclops. Cyclops is an utter bastard. But a loveable bastard. He's just so amazingly evil. That's what I took away from A vs X. I know that's not always been his character but its some thing for him to do at any rate. Marvels moved on from civil war a bit. Now there bastard of the event is at least employable evil unlike Tony stark was back then.

I picked up Two X books in the aftermath of the event. Not really an X fan but I thought id give them a chance. Uncanny avengers just blew me away. Two things did it for me. The the just plain awesome casual vibe. And the red skull stealing prof X's brain. HOW AMAZINGLY RED SKULL IS THAT. Aye prof X has been dead for two hole seconds and BOOM red skulls in there. No hesitation. Proper old school villainy. Now this Wednesday just past big brain Michel bendis swaggered into the room and slammed all new x men on the table. It was actually pretty good. Staggeringly. Now the full impact of the first issue was spoiled by previews but the idea of getting young Scott summers to come to the future and talk some sense into himself is a damn amazing idea. Nice one bendis.

The fantastic four books missed a trick. They ended there current run going to save Dr doom from a universe he crated that turned against him. Aye naw pal. That might be actually what would happen given the circumstances and dooms actual character. But that's not what would happen to the lad doom. Lad doom would never need the fantastic four to rescue him. Lad doom wouldn't need rescuing at all. Lad doom would be off conquering universe's duel wielding infinity gauntlet like the ultra lad he is. Now to the books credit despite this fall at the very last hurdle the issue did have some fine moments and quite doomy lines form the lad himself. Sad that the run over really. The new runs just kicked off. Bit to early to say how its going but baglys art it is grately appreciated.

I decided to pick up iron man. Juuuuuuust as the book was gearing up for its final arc. Gotta say I like what I read. Very very metal gear solid ish. Sad I missed out on the hole run now. Might have to go pick up the trades at some point. Actually I don't think iv bought new trades outside of xmas presents since I started buying comics by the monthly format two or three years ago. Damn likes. That's something for me to think about. Picked up the new number one with him in his new black and yellow armour. Only one issue down of course but so far its not as good as fractions run. Not bad though. A few nice bits here and there. Gotta wait and see ware it go's

Lastly iv been venturing into deeper comic waters. The darker depths of indi comics. Well indi-er than the two big company's. Saga is a damn fine piece of comicbooking. Its the new one by that there y the last man guy. Now a fair bit of it is quite out there for my taste but that's offset buy its incredible comic booky-ness. Its about a couple and the new born child escaping from two factions at war with each other. IN SPACE. Grant Morrison's new book, happy is hopefully a piss take of mark millers indi books in particular and mark miller in general. It is defiantly a piss take but hopefully that will be made official eventually. Happy is a charming Christmas tale of a scumy scum bag and his tiny wise cracking flying purple unicorn buddy. It be horribly depressing if its not a piss take. So you can see why I want it to be one. Has to be. Hopefully

Also I'm back !
