comic book quickies 16.5.12

AVENGERS #26

written by Brain Michael Bendis art by Walter Simonson

Well this wasn't what I was expecting at all. This world man. Its crazy. You go to your friendly neighbourhood comic book shop to pick up a copy of the avengers and what do you get ? A story all about the secret avengers! This world man I'm telling you its totally mental sometimes. Well I suppose its more a noh var spotlight issue so that's cool. We really don't know all that much about the young kree lad, its not like we learn all that much more about him here but whatevers. Now it is sort of weird that captain America sends this avenger team and not to mention his close friend Thor on what he calls a suicide mission. I like to think his reasoning is that Thor died pretty recently and just came back so he probably wont die any time soon.

BLUE BEETLE #9

written by Tony Bedard art by Marcio Takara

Now this was ok. Just ok. It was a slight step up from what we've had from this book recently. So that's something at least. The main problem I have with book is Jamie isn't having fun. The scarab battle suit isn't any fun. The beetle place within the world of the new fifty two isn't any fun. So I'm really not digging this blue beetle on the run arc. Its just not what I want from the character. All DC have to do is have Jamie in some fun super hero adventures where he's a inexperienced rookie. Now they kind of have that going on here with the star kid vibe the first few issues had and you do get the point that Jamie has no idea what he's doing or how to be a hero but there still missing that vitally important fun part.

SUPER GIRL #9

written by Michael Green and Mike Johnson art by Mahmud Asrar

Now this was a damn good comic. Damn good. I'm tempted to say this was the best issue of super girl that iv read since issue one. It was just so darn fun. And as you'd expect from I comic I really liked it did have a lot of fighting. Which is always funky. Now I did think that last issue was a good change of pace breather issue and I did kind of want that to continue. I would have been really happy if supergirl just sat around all issue chilling with her Irish gal pal. Well I guess that wasn't to be. Oh wells wall to wall fighting is just as good. I know a lot of people out there think fighting alone cant carry a comic and I'm willing to concede that's partially true but I have to give credit to this comic its some what interesting fighting. Now its nothing mind blowing but its not like its supergirl spamming one paunch over and over and suer girls powers were going mental and that led to the standard not trying to hurt civilians routine that I'm glad dint take the dark path and have her kill or maim anyone. Yeah so supergirls a kinda sorta solid comic.

JUSTICE LEAGUE #9

written by geoff johns art by jim lee

This was interesting. Not great. But interesting. Really it was just a lot of set up and not very justice league-ish set up at that. Like the last few issues it felt very small. Well not very small but smaller than it should be for the big super star flag ship that it started out as. There was time spent showing that the justice league are people too and that they have there own emotional problems that will most likely pay off further down the line but I dunno man all of the emotional problems felt quite hollow to me. I like to think that by the time they all come together to form the league they'd have all there shit together. Now I know I'm alone in this but I really don't get what the big deal is with jim lees art. Yeah there was points in the first five issues ware I could kind of see what people liked about it but not here. At least when non super powered stuff was happening. The back up story still shows billy batson as being a bastard. Yes I'm sure the big goff lad is building to something and billy probably will get some charter development to become an actually likeable. now yes he dose shown signs of development this issue but right now he's still a bastard. Which is really odd. After flashpoint I'm sure everybody was fine with that version of captain marvel becoming the actual version. Its just weird is all.

AVENGERS VS X-MEN #4

written by team marvel art by jr jr

Sow how powerful is the phoenix force ? Yeah I know it can destroy planets. Big deal galatus dose that every other day. The fantastic four can take galatus so can they take the phoenix ? Well the x-men were able to defeat it back in the day so I'm pretty sure the avengers alone could take it. Yeah I'm saying the x-men suck ass. Deal with it. They make so much the phoenix being this world ending thing but I just cant get into that. I'm my head I see it as just another x-men villain. This issue was sort of terrible. Very little actual fighting going on and yeah there was a lot of one off panels showing fighting happening but there just there to advertise the tie ins. I know that's the done thing for events theses days but I still don't like it. Emma frost trys her hand a narrating this issue and as you'd expect she's just terrible at it. Somehow it still feels like a ninety's anti hero doing the voice over commentary. Now don't get me wrong I love the ninety's as much as the next man buy this was just an odd choice. So big wolverines back on the avengers side by the end of the issue. That makes his fight with captain America last issue totally pointless. Yay marvel !

A VS X THE FIGHTS #2

written by steve mcniven and kieron gillen art by john dell and salvador larroca

Now I suppose I shouldn't complain about the lack of fighting in the main avengers vs x-men book when we have this lovely little title that's all fighting. First up we have captain America vs gambit. Thankfully cap won. Can you imagine if they had written gambit as the winner ? MADNESS. Now don't me wrong I like gambit that lad can totally rock pink but captain America is a living legend and I don't get how someone can get it in there head that they could take him. Second fight is spider-man vs colossus. In latveria. I like how the avengers think hope is hanging out in latveria. It just makes so much sense ! Oh wait no it dosent. Now the fight itself was quit gid as it was basically just spider-man vs the juggernaut and the comic gives the fight to colossus. Naw man. Just naw.

comic book quickies 16/3/12

GREEN LANTERN #7

written by Geoff Johns art by Mike Choi

Sinestro trys to rope Hal Jordan into investigating just how INSANE the guardians have become but both he and Hal are kidnapped by the indigo tribe. See I genuinely thought this issue was pretty meh. Mainly because I felt we had done this exact same thing like six months ago. Sinestro forces Hal to be a green lantern again. Yeah the circumstances were a wee bit different last time but not by much. Hal not wanting to be a green lantern. Yeah that's just made of guhh. I get what the big goff lad is doing. Painting Jordan's use of the ring like a slight addiction. And him wanting a normal life on earth is a step forward for him. BUT THATS SOOOOOO BOARING. And of course it will never stick. The guardians are balls out insane but at this point am sure you all know that. At one point in this issue there all for killing one of there own lanterns because he might ask too many questions. Yeah. I was hoping for some buddy cop character development for auld sinestro but if I'm honest I feel he regressed a wee bit back into space Hitler mode. That was really the main thing that spoiled my enjoyment of the issue. I think Its fair to that we're all just waiting for sinestro to properly mellow out so we can have full on buddy cop action at last.

SUPERBOY #7

written by Scott Lobdell art R.B Silva

Superboy returns home to the facility ware he was created to bring the beat down to n.o.w.h.e.r.e. Yeah so superboy's pretty gid. Like iv said in the past its an oddly bipolar book. Both the plot itself and superboy as a character. One issue he's working for n.o.w.h.e.r.e and the next he's not. Though now that I think about it most issues he is working for them. Well it at least feels like he's flip flopping between working for the man and running away to freedom. He dies this week so aw well no worry's. He dose get better though. Then he dies again. But then he gets better again. So alls well with the world. Superboys not that mind blowing of a read but its still got plenty of action and that's all a really ask of a comic.

FRANKENSTEIN AGENT OF S.H.A.D.E #7

written by Jeff Lemire art by Alberto Ponticelli

Frankenstein and the creature commandos fight against the putties from power rangers and the prototype creature commandos. YEAH. So the the non sentient vaguely slave work force of shade the humanids rise up and are basically the putties from power rangers. I like this. What I don't like is shades response to this new life from that being they don't negotiate with terrorists. Meaning the just slaughter them without a second thought. Right guy I get that they tried to take over your base and that's a pretty uncool thing to do but I don't remember the humanids saying they were gonna take over the world or even if they killed anyone. Like at all. Well they probably did. But still. We all love to see putties getting beat down but shades response just seemed overly harsh and kind of set a weird tone for the issue. Like a wasn't rooting for franky and the lads. Mainly because they were being so un lad-ish.

FANTASTIC FOUR #604

written by Jonathan Hickman art by Steve Epting

Its the epic conclusion to the current mad space god saga. And I felt a little let down by it if I tell the truth. Spoilers all that happens is future franklin and Valeria save the day. That's it. To me that's just very lame. Yeah it is cool to see future franklin wielding galactus like a pokemon trainer and yes its nice to see that the world could only be save because the fantastic four are a family and if they wernt then they'd be doomed like the rest of family less reeds from other alternate universes. Its just I think we'd have all rather liked Dr doom to be the guy that saved every one. I get that doom cant do everything and be every ware. Its just that I look at the mad space gods and I'm like yeah doom could take them. Sadly the books still going for the doom is dead thing. Well he's been to hell before and we all know how that worked out. This issue was $3.99. Naw marvel. Just naw. Really don't be that guy.

AVENGERS #24

written by Brain Michael Bendis art by Daniel Acuna

Norman Osborn has all the powers ever. Lets see how that plays out for him. Well its the end of this unfortunately at times utterly hateful and insane arc. I say unfortunately because iv quite liked most of it there's just a few wee bits that just kill me. Like properly kill me. So giving Osborn all the super powers. That's really hateful. Giving Osborn the super adaptoids powers ? That somehow makes it fun. I don't know what to say. It just works. It turns him into pink hulk. Yeah that's kind of awesome. The avengers beat Osborn by touching him. That's somehow crazy awesome to me. Spider man gets a line in this issue that actually redeems this entire arc for me. Bendis you beautiful troll. As much as I loved super adaptoid pink hulk Norman Osborn I cant help wondering why marvel just wont let him be the green goblin again. Yeah the corporate pimp look sorta works for him but lex luthor has that look down to a fine art.

AVENGERS ASSEMBLE #1

written by Brian Michael Bendis art by Mark Bagley

Well there's a fourth team of avengers now and I really don't know why. Well its to cash in on the upcoming film but as of issue one thieve not yet given an in universe reason for the new team. Knowing bendis we'll find out by the time our grand kids enter high school. There was super villain that thought the hulk was only a myth. I read that and my head exploded. I don't really have any words for that. For now I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt. It is a new villain that I don't know anything about so its possible his back story involves living under a rock for most of his life. Its very pretty book and its always nice to see bendis and bagley together. Lads that they are.

The not yet cancelled comic book quickies 19/1/12

Well hawk and dove is being cancelled and despite never reading an issue it carry's on in our harts!!!

AVENGERS #21
written by Brain Michael Bendis art by Renato Guedes

The avengers get curb stomped by Norman Osborne's team of mook psycho rangers. This issue opens with bendis continuing to shill spider woman as she try to talk her way out of fighting three hulk mooks. We get it bendis she's your favourite. We get it. We got it back in 2004. please stop. Now I do like this psycho ranger mook plot something about it seems enjoyably toy toyetic to me. There isn't really much that happens here other than the avengers getting curb stomped but its done in a nice way what with the team having split up into two man buddy cop teams and there is some funny banter to be had with that. This issue I finally got that mar vel boy is spock. I like that. The issue ends with three giant man mooks attacking and beating captain America. Which is fine. But it ends with cap knocked out and the mooks being all “ captain America is down” naw pal just naw. That's just not how cap rolls. Like last time the art continues to be gid, its a different artist but they match the tone and feel of the last few issues damn well.

BLUE BEETLE #5
written by Tony Bedard art by IG Guara

Blue beetle accidentally brutally stabs his best friend through the hart. Well Blue beetle continues to be star kid. I like that and it is totally the way to go with this run but I kinda wish it could move beyond the origin stuff at this point. See this book is sorta just good, not sucky but not anything to shout about either and I feel its the origin stuff that's holding it back. That's what I here from long term fans of the character anyway though I do get why the origins being retold as blue beetle isn't the best know character and the hole point of the new 52 is to get new readers on board. The beetles buddy is fine by the way as the beetle suit suit fixes him up with a healing bug so he's fine. Well it looks like he may be a villain for a bit as the healing bug gave him a suit of power armour of his own but he's fine considering that hole stabbed though that hart thing. And remember its not like he was stabbed IN the hart no he was stabbed THOUGH the hart and right out his back so that's like his spine gone too. But no worry's he's fine

BATMAN #5
written by Scott Snyder art by Greg Capullo

Batman is trapped in the court of owls maze. Shit gets real. Then weird. Then real again. Well its issue 5 so its about time they broke out the old mind fuck. Rights so bats is trapped in this maze for like a week and daaammm he's looking ruff. The maze is trying to mentally brake him and it looks like its sorta working. That's really shocking, batman is WILLPOWER it shouldn't be this easy to crack him even just a little. It makes me question how this batman connects to grant Morrison's canon bat god batman. See I'm pretty sure this book is set in the present but its weird that batman is this weak. See if this was a young batman I could totally understand it but if this is proper present day bats then he's sickeningly out of character and totally written as a human. Which is just wrong. Batman is not a human. He is the BAT GOD the AVATAR of WILLPOWER !!! a death trap like this should be child's play to him but maybe he's just playing the court's game and maybe this is all just an act which I'm hopeing is what's going on. Still a gid comic its just a little jarring to see batman this weak.

SUPER GIRL #5
written by Michael Green art by Mike Johnson

Supergirl travels in space trying to find krypton only to find a dark elder planet killer to fight. Yeah so as you can see from the cover supergirl fights this dark eldar looking woman. Sweet. Its not a particularly awesome or long fight but its was fun considering how dark things got last issue. We also get some plot developments as supergirl learns for sure that krypton is gone and that her dad was murdered before the planet blew. So big stuff there. So we're five issues in now I feel I should congratulate supergirl on being one of the surprise pick up's of the new 52. Seriously I'm reading a supergirl comic how did that happen ? Well the first issue was one long mech fight. Yup that's pretty much why. The awesome art probably helped too.

ULTIMATE COMICS SPIDERMAN #6
written by Brian Michael Bendis art by Chris Samnee

Miles morales continues to be spider man and this issue fights some muggers. Like a pimp. Well get a load of this, issue six out in shops IN OUR LIFETIMES. I'm speechless. Back when ultimate spiderman started waaaay back in the mists of time my ancestor reviewers could only dream of a schedule like this. MONTHLY. This issue was pretty gid too with miles stopping a mugging which is a nice spidermany thing to do and further cements him as the current real spiderman. For me what made the issue though was the art GOOD GOD the art yes. Cartoony and just plain awesome it just hit me as soon as I opened the issue. I just wasn't expecting it at all even though I herd it was going to be a B artist issue. But yeah AWESOME ART. It was also had sub plot with miles uncle who in this universe is the prowler. When I first saw the ultimate powler I mistook him for stealth deadpool. Stealth deadpool should be a thing.

The jolly comic book quickies 23/10/11

WHAT A WEEK ! My comic stack was damn hefty I can tell you that. The sheer weight of the thing and I don't really buy that much comics and there was so much to talk about this week a don't even have to keep talking up front here to pad it out with filler. I will keep writing though its fun and dosent really take that much effort as I don't really have to say anything as this all just waffle. Ohh wells that seams like enough. Read on !

JUSTICE LEAGUE #4
written by Geoff Johns art by Jim Lee

Cyborg becomes fully cyborg and the team finally comes all together just as Darkseid makes his big appearance. Have to say I'm likening this book more and more with each issue see I probably was too negative with issue one but that's mainly because I felt it was way to slow and didn't do its job as the first book of the new universe properly. My point is I probably kept that negativity with me going into the other issues which is a real shame as this is a book I should really like, its nothing but wall to wall action with at times really grate banter between the big hitters of DC. Despite the cover this issue is more to do with cyborg than Aquaman though they do the !what can Aquaman do shtick” and he summons giant sharks to eat Darkseid mooks, it was bad ass but I still find it funny that they had to be next to the harbour for it to work. Yeah so I'm happy thieve went with someone as big and powerful as Darkseid as the big bad but I feel like it slightly diminishes his godlyness form final crisis.

AVENGERS #20
written by Brain Michael Bendis art by Daniel Acuna

Norman Osborn upstages the avengers at there own press conference and then the new team splits up scooby doo style and faces off against h.a.m.m.e.r.s team of psycho rangers. There were no talking head panels in this comic and because of that I may have cryed tears of joy a wee bit. So Norman Osborne is out for revenge for being ousted as the head of the avengers after the siege of asgard. Yeah Norman Osborn THE GREEN GOBLIN was head of the avengers not too long ago. Its mainly because he got the kill shot on the skrull queen at the end of secret invasion but really its because the general public in the marvel universe are INSANE like properly mad. THEY WERE OK WITH OSBORN BEING IN CHARGE OF THE AVENGERS. This issue wasn't so bad like I said Osborne's got psycho ranger mook and there always fun and I'm digging the the painted looking but still cartoony art style.

BLUE BEETLE #4
written by Tony Bedard art by IG Guara

Jaime Reyes starts to adjust to daily life with the beetle scarab bonded to him and its all very ultimate spider man ish. How 90s is that cover buy the way I mean its the the most 90s ish thing out there like that alien robot could stand to have more pouches and all. I was saying it was very ultimate spider man ish that's mainly because its a about a teen super hero in high school and I know there's quite a lot of things out their like that but ultimate spider man really defines that sort of story and that view was reinforced this week as I read this issue back to back with this weeks ultimate spider man. Not saying its a bad thing though iv certainly got room in my life for two super hero comics set in high school. If you cant tell form all my waffleing not much happens this issue that really worth talking about its really just Jaime learning to deal with the scarab in in his day to day life sure there's a shocking last page cliffhanger but iv got a feeling it'll turn out fine.

BATMAN #4
written by Scott Snyder art by Greg Capullo

BATMAN DIDENT DIE ! So he continues to investigate the court of owls and tells Nightwing about the last time he went looking for them when he was just a kid. This book continues to deliver the goods there's not been one issue in the last four months that I haven't enjoyed. So far its been a perfect blend of action and mystery and at the same delving into the history of Gotham and the art is funking fantastic. I feel like iv said all these things in past quickies so it may not sound like much has been happening but the story hasn't stalled its just been entertainingly consistent. It really is the main batman book you should be reading right now.

SUPERGIRL #4
written by Michael Green art by Mike Johnson

Supergirl fights for her life on board a space station and things take a grim turn towards the end. This book started out so well but each issue going forward has been less and less mind busting and mecha filled. Not saying they were bad comics in anyway but the first issue just seemed so tailored to me that I just hoped it continue the way it started. This issue was still all action it just wasn't one long fight action. And like I said at the start it takes a turn for the grim towards the end ware the villain of the arc, a corporate space pimp gets both his arms and legs blown off when the space station explodes. Maybe its just me but I think that incident kinda brings the tone of the book down a bit.

BATMAN INC : LEVIATHAN STRIKES !
Written by Grant Morrison art by Chris Burnham and Cameron Stewart

Its the last two issues of batman inc in a slick sorta trade thingy. First batgirl investigates an evil finishing school in England for super villains daughters then its the “season finale” wham episode ware stuff gets damn weird and the true big bad is revealed. Maybe. Ahh the heft of this book ! Like I said its a bound sorta trade and its a damn slick presentation. So the first part about the evil finishing school is the fun breather story before stuff gets real in the next story but its well done and the arts damn fine. Lady gaga makes an appearance. Are we sure Morrison's off the drugs ? The second story's ware its at though. its is a wham episode all right, leviathan dose strike and agents of batman inc do die. I think. Its not very clear. And as you can see from the cover batman has bat robots. This pleases me. This issue is also set during old DC universe and for some reason I think this is oddly cool. It like a broken shard of the past sticking in the side of the rebootaverse. A damn fine comic well worth the wait in my humble opinion.

FANTASTIC FOUR #601
written by Jonathan Hickman art by Steve Epting

Johnny storm is back ! Yeah he was back last issue but he's more back this issue and by that I mean its just not spider man that knows he's back. Yes this issue we get the one panel shot of the team all back together and its those moments that really make death arcs for me. most deaths in comics are usely dumb and done for shock value and are always without fail met with cry's of it wont last and the person who died will be back within the year because as we all know no one ever stays dead in comics. With johnny we all called it , that he'd be back for fantastic four #600 but I have to say its been done really well so far. Last issue we saw how he survived and it was done pretty badass and now in this issue we get so see the family's reactions to his return and how his time in the negative zone have changed him. Now that I think of it the comic must have been damn gid if iv got this far in the quickie and not mentioned how DOCTOR DOOM isn't in this issue. Yeah I get that he's over in FF but damn marvel you'd think he'd at least get a little panel time explaining to the kree that he's been burned before or ripping up the ground under tanks like a pimp but oh wells it was a nice comic anyway.

ULTIMATE COMICS SPIDERMAN #5
written by Brian Michael Bendis at by Sara Pichelli and David Messina

Well friends its been a long road but we made it. Miles morales is officially spider man. Its been a long hard struggle and I know we've all lost good friends along the way but we made it and now we can get on with the rest our lives. So this was the inevitable issues ware we had to see nick fury be cool with miles being spider man. That needed to happen because if it didn't then we'd always be waiting for it to happen. Miles couldn't be kicking about without fury having his back not after the way peter died. So electro escapes for about the forth time and miles gets his first boss battle to prove himself to fury and I think electro is dead. Miles dosent kill him or anything but fury shoots him pretty dead looking and somehow I doubt he's in a take prisoners mood. Pretty fun issue with a good balance of comedy and action and like I said miles IS spider man now. That fact that it dident take so long that this is being written by me and not one of my descendant's is a god damn miracle.

Well that was a damn fine week and its was needed after what an odd downer last week turned out to be. Anyway this little bit down here's actually got a propose.

MERRY XMAS FROM COMIC BOOK QUICKIES !!!

comic book quickies 21/11/11

Gotta love comics, there like more expensive crack !

JUSTICE LEAGUE #3
written by Geoff Johns art by Jim Lee

Not really feeling this book yet. Maybe its cuz the teams not all together yet and nothing that crazy ha s happened yet. Still its been fun just not as awesome as I think we all thought it would be. This issue was wonder woman's introduction and she was kind of bad ass but nothing to shout about. Sadly cyborgs dad was way less gendo than last month hopefully he's just playing the long con and his sons horrible disfigurement and transformation into a cyborg abomination went just according to plan.

AVENGERS #19
written by Brain Michael Bendis art by Daniel Acuna

Captain America puts a team together. That's like one of the base elements in storytelling present in all cultures throughout history and all dimensions. Its my understanding the Vikings sung songs about it. So this was a pretty neat comic yeah it was your standard bendis avengers assemble story and yes it still had talking heads but those were restricted to tv commentators and lets hope to funk that the were ment to be annoying.

BLUE BEETLE #3
written by Tony Bedard art by IG Guara

This comics totally that 90s kids film star kid. Just saying sports fans. So I'm likening this book and I like a grate menny people want blue beetle to succeed and hopefully this run will be the jumping on point ware people take notice of DC's very own spider man. Hopefully. This comic is pretty much written for the trade and not a lot has really happened yet. This issue was mostly about the scarab learning to be be less evil and corporate with Jamie like some kind of ..... buddy cop type relationship, its too early to call that so we can only wait and see.

BATMAN #3
written by Scott Snyder art by Greg Capullo

Its hard for me to write these quickies when a comics well written. Batman's one of those comics ware I cant just say omg buddy cops ! or holly hell ! Fifteen page fights ! Its just so damn good in that way ware you can feel it rather than give stand out moments of galaxy splitting awesomeness. So batman fights owl men ! Well he try's to find them at least. Fast paced and utterly bad ass. Love it BUY IT.

SUPERGIRL #3
written by Michael Green art by Mike Johnson

Sadly this was a wee bit of a step down in quality from the last two issues, sure there were fights and those fights were purtty cool but it wasn't a full issue of fighting like the last two times and that saddens me. Saddens me to the core. Supergirl dose fight a brain monster made of water IN SPACE at one point so that's a plus point but the issues mostly about her not accepting that krypton is gone and her meeting a generic corporate pimp. also IN SPACE.

Mud Man #1
written and art by Paul Grist

I was sold on the title of this book alone. Mud man. Saw that and just had to buy it and yeah it was a damn gid comic. Dude falls in mud and gets mud powers. Hells yes. More please !

pretty quick this week likes !

comic book quickies 18/8/11

even more mad hat filler !

Avengers #16
written by Brain Michael Bendis art John Romita jr.

Well there are two story's in this book , one is incredibly painful and the other makes no sense what so ever. The first part is the avengers reality tv show ware they all sit down and talk about how awesome they are. Which is just AGHGGHHGHGHGHGHGHGHGHF! Its just horrible everyone's so annoying and they keep talking in the pasts tenses so its undermining the fear itself event. And the worst part is its been like this for months ! It wouldn't be so bad but the other part of the story makes no god damn sense. Captain America is all emo cos buckys dead again so sets off on a secret mission to find his killer sin the red skulls daughter who now has a hammer so she's all overpowered and what nought. I have no idea when this is ment to be taking place , sins being attacking the USA with Nazi mehca I don't think shed be that hard to find. And she isn't as cap fights her in the main fear its self book. so this was pretty pointless .

Venom #6
written by Rick Remender art by Tom Fowler

Three reasons I got this comic 1. there wasent that much out for me this week 2. its a spider island tie in and 3. the cover is bloody awesome , its all flash venom getting swarmed by another symbiote in spider man's red and blue suit. Now I haven't been picking this series up since issue one, I was looking forward the flash venom and to some secret agent/90s anti hero action but I hoped they'd leave it a while before he started venoming out and eating people. This issue was pretty cool tho flash venom fights a monstrous grey spider man thing that im going to call tarantula. Flash venom wins and they take tarantula back to base. But SHOCK tarantula brakes out and spreads the spider plague about and flash venoms teams all scared to get it despite it giving you super powers. yeah weird. Then there's dog venom. and that's just awesome

Ghost rider fear itself #2
written by Rob Williams art by Matthew Clark

Johnny blazes has given up the ghost rider and now its some woman. Didn't think I was going to like this one, I get that johnny would want rid the of the spirit of vengeances but I didn't think he actually would. yeah he's selfish and a idiot but he's also kind of a hero. So when he did get rid of it I was kinda meh about it. However they have made it fun by making everyone point out how selfish and dumb it was to get rid of the ghost rider and to have some ell's carry his burden . Then the unpowered blazes punches the devil in the face. So yeah this was indeed fun. This comic also has a preview for a comic version of the tv show castle, which was weird as I didn't notices it was an add and thought I was reading a B side ghost rider story ware nothing happened . Ahh good times.
