2014 one year anniversary post ! Baron Weirwulf's Haunted Library no.54

Oft what a year of content loikes. Outstanding. Breathtaking even. Pish. But we're back in the game !

Lets have a wee talk about comic. Not because iv been staggeringly ill and have nothing left to do but because comics are pretty damn neat and need a good talking about.

SLOSH SLOSH CREEEK

Baron Weirwulf's HAUNTED Library ! What a title ! Not only this landowning comic enthusiast a wear wolf his lie berry is also haunted for some reason !

Hella tree house of horror three spooky scary story's horror anthology e em up ! Linked / narrated by this weirdly un-legit ghost lady

Story number ones like a standard evil hitch-hiker story but he's such a cool dude. Looks to be a loop of horror with the pro tags doomed to repete the mistakes of the spooky spectre but for what ever reason the story has a super happy ending ware the hitch-hiker ghost saves the day ! Yaaay ! Well . He's still a ghost. And his family's dead. And the pro tags houses and probably all there posetions have burnt down . In the grim ass 70s. Still there alive tho ! Niffty.

Story twos about the devil or some such. Salem witch trails things going on. Its pretty weakly grim I feel . There's this cursed girl who is cursed and this means she's evil ? But then everyone's evil and then satans about looking a touch like big Dracula. Prolly the weakest of the 3 tales of terror but that sudden devil just rocking up was fairly neat.

Then there's like one page splash of aliens being a things. Apparently there a thing.. far more disco than you'd expect too.

Story number three is the cover story of evil triangular toy clown who like a lot of people I know dosent actual like being outside in the rain . Good on him for working those mittens on the door handle. That was prolly mad locked given he's a evil as shit possessed living doll nightmare . That door sure as hell locked. Concealed lock pick on the spooky mitten ? I assume so. Pretty niffty to the point scary comic story. Some kids cant sleep cause he thinks monsters are in his room . And well. Yup they are. Not to worry though there mad shite and dad soon beats it doon with a bat . Easily defeated evil ! My favourite kind !

Id say have a rake !

Oh ayes . And there's some horrible racist add on the back cover. BOOO ! You gotta take a long hard look at your self 1970s. Ur a mess !

prelude to infinity new avengers 008

written by jonathan hickman art by mike deodato

I don't think I like infinity. I knows. I'm a massive hypocrite. The event has all the things I love. Space heroes cutting about being epic fighting a war to save the universe. And it has big captain America pointing at fools whilst being humanity's representative red ranger. I SHOULD find it magical. But I don't. Shockingly. And there's a few reasons for that. Mainly. I don't think I care any more. About marvel events that is. Well that's unfair. I do still care about marvel continuity. Just not enough to read ALL the books needed to keep up with it. Weirdly since the new 52 iv become much more of a dc man. Marvel since then have went a tad mad. Which I totally respect them for. Only MARVEL would kill off peter parker in the year a new spider-man film came out. Like. There business plan seems to be to troll as many folk as possible. A respectable goal. It just translates into me buying less of there comics for some reason.

Another key ingredient in my not likening infintyness wid be my not buying Hickman's avengers. I just didn't want to read them. Like I gave his issue one a chance. Didny like it. I liked that he let the movie avenger team get curb stomped by some punk ass new villain. But at the same time he let the movie team get curb stomped by some punk as new villain. Aye fair play hawk eye and black widow can get to fuck but that team contained the big guns loikes. Big cap. Big thor. Big hulk. They just dropped like punks. I'm well aware it was just set up for the arc and it lead to potential overwhelming epicness on everyone's part. I just didny want to read it. Mibby I was burnt out by bendis avengers. Fuck it. Of course I was burnt out on bendis avengers. Something just didn't sit right with me with Hickman on the book. It was an incredible mistake on my part as I get the feeling his run is needed to understand any amount of infinity.

So there I am. Reading infinity. Understanding every fourth panel or so. Tie ins are necessary it would seem. Normal pish with big events I knows. But more so with infinity in my opinion. like age of ultron was a perfectly fine read without tie ins. It was shite. But at least I could understand it. So I gave this prelude towwdle a try. How to describe it. Stuff happened I guse. I litrully couldn't care about any of it. I really need an answerer to this. Who actually likes the inhumans? Seriously. Is there anybody out there that's happy to see them whenever they pop up. I'm guessing one person. That being Hickman himself. I tolerated the inhuman's presence in his last fantastic 4 run. Because them being the fantastic 4s pals and all that. Though there bits were definitely the low points of that run. Marvels pushing them as this big deal though. I think there actually getting a book. Fuck everything to do with that and to with them and there Shakespeare in space ass pish.

I see wakandas going to war with Atlantis. Good ? Namor did like kill wakanda dead during a vs x. so seeing a little bit of reprisal for that is cool. I'm rooting for Atlantis though. Like I genuinely hate dc Atlantis but I'm fairly apathetic to the marvel yin. Plus big skeevey namor earns them hella points. And of course I hate everything to do with the black panther and his mary sue nation. Every time I have to read something about wakanda I'm filled with such mindless hate. Come on wakanda. Why even are you a thing. My mind cant understand it. Ayes I get that its a future tech African nation. Fair play. But why dose anyone care ! Here black panthers aww namor pal. I let my nation invade your nation. Why ? For reasons ! Shity ones !

Doc strange is completely off his shit. Because of the house visitor he gets at the end of this issue. This angers me.

Reid Richards. The greatest evil humanity as ever know is telecommuting with his illuminaty buddy Tony stark. Its aww fine banter. bringing together Tony returning from his space adventures. I mean Tony only got back in this months issue of iron man but its fine. I buy the continuity hiccups. Its really not that big a deal in the grand sachem of things. Reid's telecommuting though. Like. Yes I understand he's the worst human ever and all but why dosent he pop into the future foundation and tell them that he and the F4 are fine. Ayes the FF are basically a joke book but they still think the F4 are missing and probably dead if mad auld johnny storm is to be believed. For fuck sake Reid. Get it together man.

Well that's really all there is to the issue. It sums up were all the “ new” avengers are at . What's going on in there lives. What there motivations are. What they were doing when thanos ranger team rocked up to the planet. As iv said. Most of them were being utter bastards at the time. A fairly quick read that left me surprisingly angry and still as confused about infinity as I was before.

Randomers #1

Righto. I feels like trying something different for a bit. Iv got this giant ass stack of comics iv picked up from car boots over the years and I'm never going to read them if I don't also somehow funnel them into mad hat out put. So here we are. Ill see if can blast threw them. Thought we mad hats do have an odd habit of only doing one part of something but promising the world. Almost none of them are connected to each other and there mostly books for characters I dinny ken any thing about. Were going in blind !

hope runs from youngblood's disease sufferers

Cable and x force 009

written by frank tieri art by salvador larroca

Cable and x force. More like uncanny avengers. Amaright ? The entirety of this comic is just the uncanny avengers team going to look for hope. Cables daughter not the awesome blue light of green lantern fame. It was ok. I think. As a stand alone issue that I went completely blind into it worked fairly well. Like id probs be pretty pissed if I was buying this monthly and this was all there was to the issue. Though saying that marvel has been hella cranking books out of late. So maybe the wound dosent cut that deep.

So the uncanny avengers are bobbing along looking about for hope. Having the banter. There cool dudes those uncanny avengers. I can totally see why folk could hate them though. Like ayes they can come off as cunts in there own book. Bit shites gotten epicly space Gothic real in there book. So I at least let it slide over there. Here not so much. Like. The main problem with the team is the mutants on it. Because as we've hopefully discussed before. Most mutants and almost all x men are utter bastards. To a man. Its this incredibly marvely thing. That they continue to push mutants as this feared and hated minority whilst simultaneously making mutants act like complete dicks to everyone and every thing in existence.

Hope herself is a bit of a bam here too. Mind controlling what I assume from context to be her foster parents into driving her about. Though to be fair. My only exposure to hope was from a vs x and from messiah complex if that was indeed her as a baby. I don't know. X men continuity. Fuck it. So her actions in this issue could be incredibly in character for her. Its just once again mutant kind dosent come off looking well. So hopes powers are to absorb other powers ? Cools. Kinda makes rouge a bit redundant when hope dosent even have to physically touch a dude to steal his powers. But again x men continuity. Fucked if I know what rouges current or actual deal is. Points to the comic though as hope absorbs the powers of purple girl. Didny ken there was a purple girl. Nice bit of z list usage there.

Oddly captain America is shown in a bad light. Though its just a fillery continuation of his beef with havok. Like. Ayes havok is the leader of the uncanny avengers. Fucked if I know why. Well. Political reasons. To show mutant and man working together and to piss off scott summers. Its just a bit dumb likes. Aye fair play you dinny need cap to lead ALL the avengers teams. But dinny just have him on the roster as an underling to add credibility to your pr stunt. Cause it leads to pish like this. Cap is the living legend leader of men. There's no getting around that. Though. I will say. Havok dose rock a mean gendo ikari turtle neck jacket look back in the main uncanny book. So. Points there.

Its really more of a banter based issue than a fight em up. But there's a little bit of action here and there. Its fairly stupid though. Hope makes cap and havok fight with purple girls powers as you'd expect. Its fairly meh. We didn't learn anything from it we didn't already know. Hopes finisher is using masterminds powers to summon this red skull galactus thing. Its cool ? Mibby ? Its an illusion that cap just one shots like a proper pro. Though it did serve as a reminder for me that the red skull is STILL out there running about with professor X's brain in his head. I mean. Nobody has gotten on this. Nobody has put a stop to the RED SKULL running about the world as one of the most powerful psychics ever. You'd think that be caps singular driving goal right now. But no. he's cutting about on a mutant publicity team checking up on this teenage girl. Because her dad is apparently at the top of the worlds most wanted list. Yeah. Scott summers is out there right now leading a mutant revolution. And folk are worried about what the human fridge cable is up to. ALSO THE RED SKULL IS STILL OUT THERE WITH PROF X'S BRAIN.

So yeah. I liked this issue ! Not enough to actively seek out cable and x force. God no. but I didn't hate what I read and there were cheeky wee bits of choice banter strewn about. Early on there's a gid bit from havok about x men and there constantly changing loyalty's that I had a good chuckle at. Mutants and especially x men being the worst humans to ever live and all that.

Bag guys adventures in villains month #1

Villains month. Ayes. So it did seem quite shite when the news first broke way back when. Though to be fair. Almost all news tends to be met with at least a somewhat negative response. Comics are just like that. Change in my opinion is the work of the devil. Or at least another almost as important daemon like creature. I remember when I was just a lad the adds for avengers vs x-men sent our own dovay davey into an unstoppable rage. Millions died. So basically. A lot of decisions that are made in comics tend to sound amazingly shite when you first here them.

Villains month sounded AMAZINGLY shite. Like. Basically everything about it. The the villain take over. The point one nature of the books. The fact that a fair chunk of them aren't by the same creative teams. The SHEER amount of books. And the 3D covers. That I feel was a gimmick to far for a lot of folk. They REEK of the 90s. Not a bad thing in my book. But definitely in a lot of other comic buyers. I'm forever hearing rumblings of another comic book crash. A negative effect of the 90s. So I can understand why most folk widny want to be reminded of that particular decade by theses shiny covers. Those folk are bastards. Just remember the endless summer !

So ayes. Wasny existed for villains month. I was still gonna get it of course. Just wasny at all hyped for it. But then that last justice league issue happened. The end of trinity war happened. And I was BACK IN THE GAME. Trinity war was a lot of faffing about. It has to be said. There was a lot of running about and wonder woman being utterly horrible. That will be my abiding memory of the mini non event thing. That and the sheer crazy holly shit factor of the last issue. It was a proper goff johns last issue of an event. Meaning stuff ACTULLY happened.

I doubt its any kind of spoiler at this point. But the actual contents of Pandoras box was a portal to another world which the crime syndicate rocked threw. That's pretty neat loikes. Like the implication for magic in the dc verse are kinda fucked considering the box was only supertech. But hey ho. We got some solid as all fuck villains out of it. Now this is my first time dealing with the crime syndicate in actual comics. Iv seen them in the brave and the bold cartoon and I know of them from general comics lore though I'm assuming thieve been updated for cutting about the new 52 verse. Now. It dosent really matter who they are. I just think its cool there actually something. A real threat that has to be dealt with in the present. In the beginning I just assumed villains month was going to be mostly origin story's and dat. Though with with forever evil as the first proper event of the new 52 I should have known better.

So I got four dc books this week. All of varying quality and shininess. Lets take a quick gander !

First up is joker #1. its odd. Appropriately so ayes. But iv not really decided if its the good kind of odd or the bad kind of odd. Its not at all what I thought it was going to be. Though I'm not actually sure what I thought it would be. Its surprisingly weird yes. But a book being odd and strange in no way makes it a good comic. The main chunk of the story is the joker cutting about with his face on raising his son. who is a ape he kidnapped. Ayes. Now it is a joker story so there is a hell of a lot of room for joker to a an unreliable narrator. For all of the issue to be utter bull shit his mad brain has just made up. I get the feeling its aww real though. And its just written in an older less palatable style to modern sensibility's. I personally did enjoy reading it. Though I did find the insights into the jokers childhood to be somewhat pandering to the youth of today. And if anything in the issue wasn't quite real it be those bits. His aunt was basically evil olive oil from pop eye. Who abused him. So now he abusing and killing other folk. I don't care how real a thing that is. It can get the fuck out my comics. Its a SHIT trope. Other than that I thought it was pretty neat. Balances the evil sinisterness and the need for sillyness of the joker quite well. At least in my opinion. And its the one book that most people will probably get this month even if thieve sworn of the event. Popularity power of the joker after all.

Next up is grodd #1. and its defiantly the least good of my dc purchases's this week. Not bad at all. Just the least good. Nothings wrong with the over all story. The gorillas have made peace with central city and both sides are committed to rebuilding and living in peace until grodd rocks up and ruins everybody's day. The premiss is incredibly flash like. normally in modern comics civilians be they man or ape tend to be right bastards. Not so in the flash. Mainly because big barry allan is generating enough lad to go around. And its only really grodd that spoils that, but that's good. Because he's a bad guy. Its what there meant to do. Now. I did say this was the least good dc book I read. That's mainly because certain parts of it come off as a little clunkie. This group of lesser villains just turn op for grodd to kill. I'm not underselling it. They just turn up midway threw the book. Ayes there moving in on flash territory but it could have been handled a little better I feel. Anyway. Still worth a read and the art its hella warm and wovely.

The last of the 3d covers I got was count vertigo #1. surely to be the critical darling of the first week of villains month. It gets major points for having green arrows actual creative team behind it. Big jeff limire likes. It hits all juicy tropes so beloved by the youth of today's hippster audience. Vertigo had an abusive child hood. A drug addict whore failure of a mother who he eventually mercy kills/ takes vengeance on. He's turned in a psychic child solider. Aww the classics. Well. There not thaaaat comen. Its just the over all tone they create is very much something designed to appeal to the hated youth of today. Thing is it works. I attribute this to the continued SHEER metal gearness of lemirs run on green arrow. Vertigo is BASICALY psycho mantis. And his sad back story is fits with a lot of bosses from any given metal gear solid game. So aye. Its probs the mainstream indi book of choice for dc in particular. This week. And yes I did enjoy it. But god damn it hipsters.

Finally we come to forever evil. The first proper event of the new 52. now ayes, there's been hella cross book events. Particularly in the lantern books. But this is the first proper eventy event standalone book but with hella tie ins. To my knowledge. I could be talking uttter shite. But lets carry on like I'm not. Its a first issue so yes there's a lot of set up. Something that I should have expected but after that last issue of justice league I assumed it be straight into the action. Sadly not. What we got was still staggeringly entertaining for how weirdly subdued it was. Let me explain. There was sort of a low key tone to proceeding's. Which ayes. Set up and all that. But there's these moments of sheer insanity. Like ultraman snorting kyrptonight. And it also give it points for the crazy amounts of super folk ripping giant doors off there hinges. There's something pirmaly super heroy about that. And ted kord might be back in the game. ACTUL POINTS THERE. So lots of fun so far with crazy potential to get even amazinger. Yeah.

So defiantly a solid start to the month. Lets hope it continues to go well

Comic book quickies 13.2.13

God damn. Time likes. It just wont stop. Well another week. Time for more comics. Aw right week. Not too packed but the books that were out were of nifty quality.

BATMAN #17

written by scott snyder art by greg capullo

Things are going to get fairly controversial here quite soon. I'm sorry for this in advance. Now I think this last issue of the death in the family arc was a massive let down. After reading it I lost a wee bit of my faith in humanity. As a species we may have lost a good ten or so years because of this issue. I really, really thought we were past this at this point. I thought we were better than this. Its a damn shame likes. This issue in my opinion is the first dud issue of synders run. Well aye the annual had a similar problem in shiteness to be fair. Now put your torches and pitch forks down. Most of the issue was out right cracking. Proper batman being batmanny stuff. Lot a great moments and some fabulous joker banter. The image of bats ayes being broken and STEAMING will probably stay with me for some time. Like pretty much everything the problem lies with the ending. Its amazingly unnecessary. Hatefully unnecessary. Just goona out right spoil it here. Run for the hills if you don't want to here. Basically the bat family no longer trust bruce. FUCK THAT. That's something that would have flew twenty to twenty five years ago. But holly fuck not today. The youth of today will read this comic and be inspired by it. They will think that's the way to write comics. You can see why I think this will set the world back. Batman is a god ok. He's not a cunt. Well he kind of is but not in a bad way The prep time batman may be nothing but an internet joke but that's what batman IS in our harts. He's an amalgamation of all the batmen we've ever watched or read. He's spent the last seventy years becoming a god and while this batman may young that's no excuse for failure like this. This whole arc was about the joker being the voice of people that think batmans better on his own being a grim and gritty bastard. Now I may be horribly wrong here but I'm pretty sure that's meant to be taken as an insult. Batman has a team that he kicks about with. Its a whole part of his history. Gona just deal with it. By making the bat family untrusting in bruce just makes them horribly unlikeible. Its a huge miss step if you ask me. Your basically saying the jokers right and those that believe his view that bats is better off alone is right. Dose snyder actually believe that ? I don't want to believe that. Now aye this is just comics. Nothing really matters on the actual story level. Things will eventually be fine. But like I say I worry for this issues effect on comics to follow and its influence on other writers. Synders batman run is beloved and a lot of people are sure to read it. I thought we were nearing a new era. A new age of comics. A neo modern age. Stuff like slotts run on spider-man and almost all of snyders batman pointed to more ladness in comics. Probably shouldn't jump to conclusions though. Ill see how this disappointing plot line turns out. Its very likely I could be calling it genius by next month.

FANTASTIC FOUR # 4

written by matt fraction art by marck bagley

Sue storm is a terrible human being. We all get that right ? She's just awful. I'm not even sure what it is I dislike about her. She's just so deeply not nice. Its maddening. It may be because her sole charter trait is being a mother. Now being a mother that's also a super hero. That's fairly nifty. Shame she dosent carry it off well. Now being a mother in fiction means that she's totes rocking the trope of a mother will commit genocide to save her children. Now aye. That might be a very true fact of life but come on people ! Lets get past that ok ? Now aye. I don't have any specific examples to throw at sue. But for fock sake guys. That's like basically her. Also I'm pretty sure she slept with namor. I bring this up because this whole issue was about how awesome she is. Now iv read this issue. That's why I'm reviewing it right here. Why is she so awesome ? Read the whole issue. No actual clue. Basically she hot. I think that's what the issue was getting at. Now that I actually think about it. Maybe that's the joke. Maybe everybody's aware of how amazingly un likeable she is and this issues shilling of her was all in jest. Lets hope likes. Reed richards ain't no lad either. He pissies all over the prime directive in quite a spectacular way to declare his un dieing love for sue. If it wasn't messing with the whole culture of a alien race I could totes get behind it. Basically thank fuck the things on the team. His massive ladness keeps them readable.

THE STANDARD # 1

written by john lees art by jonathan rector

Purtty nifty wee indi super hero book. First issue was a little rough but I'm willing to see ware it go's. There's a fair bit o gorn and cynicism in here but its tempered by old fashioned hope. Id say its too early to tell which way it will go but the mission statement by the author at the back gives me hope. I quite like it when the writer of a book gives a wee word about what's going to be happening at the back of the first issue. I spose it just there because that cant have a letters page. Still nifty as fuck to me though. The plots really just ok. There's two heroes called the standard. One who kicked about the golden/ sliver age and the second standard is the firsts side kick whos taken up the mantle. The second standards basically booster gold. A celebrity super. Nothing rang wea that. Nothing too ground braking either. Now I really cant judge ware the book will go. Its looking like it will take shots at grim and gritty tropes but it dose have them same tropes as part of the plot. So like I said. Its hard to tell ware this series will go just on the strength of this first issue.

AMERICAS GOT POWERS # 5

written by jonathan ross art by bryan hitch

So still amazingly were now five whole issues in and the hero of the book is STILL a lad. Yes the world and almost every other character in it is AMAZINGLY EVIL. But the hero is STIL a hero. Maybe its just me that's hung up on this. But in this day and age the very fact that the hero isn't even a little bit of a cunt is something to marvel at. In my book at least. a character that previously seemed like a bit of a lad dose seem to go a wee bit power crazy but that is done by having david tenant turn into giant man. Don't know how to feel about that. This books main problem is its loss of momentum. Its a real shame likes. It started so god damn well with that double first issue. Kinda goat board of the whole hunger games / running man plot. Its aww right likes. Its just no tournament arc though. To be fair this issue is more world plot stuff happening. The evil American military decides to just bomb all the super powered teens. Because evil.

KATANA # 1

written by ann nocenti art by alex sanchez

So I gave kantana go this week. Cant say I regret it. In the last year or so I decided to give more comics a try. Number ones that is. Within reason though. I'm no goona actively depress my self by seaking out comics by the dark creators to read. So I picked up this issue and gave it a quick flick threw. Art wasny bad so I gave it a chance. It was a fairly good read. Some parts were slightly hard to follow but that may just be my ignorance of the charter coming into play. What's here though is good action and by the end of it I didn't dislike katana. Id call that a win like. So this book is part of a new line spotlighting the new justices laeuge. It will be interesting to see what that books all about because right now I'm not entirely sure why its happening. Its a weird back and forth comics have. They have a big super hero team gain new obscure members that go on to have interesting story's but eventually they have to put the iconic team together. Its a whole ting.

SUPERBOY #17

written by tom deefalco art by r.b silva

So hell on earth is still going on. Not really complaining just it feels like there's been a hundred issues of it all ready. Cant really complain about that either as iv been missing the superman issues as I only get super girl and super boy. Its not all that bad. Probably unnecessary. Its totes one of them cross overs ware you need to buy comics you don't usely buy. He'll is a bit of a weak villain. He's curb stomping everyone. Not sure how or why. And bloody super girls like actually in love with him. Maybe. Sucks if she actually is. Could turn out well if she's not. A few nifty things have come out of the cross over though. Like batmans hella pimpy fur snow gear and super boy having to ware superman's suite for plot reasons leading supes to cutting about in his action comics causal jeans and S logo t shirt. Iv most likely said before but even though supermans the last hero you should give a causal costume too this one bizarrely works on him. Not actually sure what happened this issue. Aye the plot advanced but there was this silver surfer bug dude and galactus looking guy. I'm pretty sure drugs were involved with the writing of this issue. That or it was intentionally written to appear like it was written on drugs. I liked it !

comic book quickies 30.1.13

Hey there sports fans. Light week all right. Only five books to pick up. Damn solid though is the thing. Makes a change it has to be said. Each week has been jam packed with comics for ages now. Iv been considering dropping a few things. But GOD DAMN. Every things just too damn good to let go. Quality is like way high across the board. And even the titles I should realistically drop I cant. Because of madness. Blue beetle has ended. To be fair. I think. I did here it was ending quite awhile back. Again to be fair I can see why. The beetles book just wassny living up to what it could be. It wasny overly bad. Just meh. It went with the hole jamies life is shite angle and I don't get why any one would think that's a good idea. Damn shame really. The blue beetle deserves a well written and fun book. Hopefully he'll get another chance some ware down the line.

Any way on to this week !

TEEN TITANS #16

written by scott lobdell and fabian nicieza art by brett booth

Right so here me out on this one. Actually surprisingly good. I know right. There's something about that cover that makes me feel guh. Its just weirdly meh. Enthusiasm drainingly so. BUT the actual comic was pretty damn decent. its the second teen titans issue tieing into the batman death of the family cross over arc threw the connection with red robin. We do get a few appearances from the other titans but there basically here to comment on there cross over with red hood and the outlaws and set up further plot points for latter issues of titans. Most of the meat of the issue is red robin and red hood being buddy cops. It works. Red robin is a tad unbareble for my likening. Were always told how smart he is and that's never really followed up on with anything all too memorable. Red hoods kind of a lad in comparison. Jeason todds has been getting some good press from me lately. He's been fun in actual batman and in batman inc. now there both buddy coping because thieve been kidnapped by the joker. Right so the joker likes. He references kirks fight with the gorn. That's the best use of the joker since marvel vs dc. Witch admittedly was just the other week for me. The death of the family tie ins have been pretty fine if you ask me. Almost everyone of them has been over shadowed by the actual batman book but that's been knocking it out of the park so that's to be expected.

THE FLASH #16

written francis manapul and brian buccellato art by francis manapul

I don't think it can be said enough. Francis manapuls art on the flash is fooooking amazing. It really is fooooking amazing. Right. There. I said it enough. For now. Gorilla grod continues his assault this week. That's another thing about this book. It totally just has shite like gorilla grod kicking about. I very much appreciate the super funness of this. Now stuff has been getting real for wee barry allan. Well basically stuff hasn't stopped getting real for him since issue one. I kinda like that. Normally I'm a monster/problem of the week type of guy and this sort of extended stuff happening plot turns me off a book. Not so here. Here it works. Mostly because of that super fun element. Patty now knows barry is the flash. And she's cool with it. MORE COMICS SHOULD BE LIKE THIS. Now yes the world is kind of ending thanks to grod. Well not factually ending but in a dramatic sense so patty's taking well as there sort of operating in a war footing frame of mind so the reveal is sandwiched between more crazy shite. Barry was cutting about in last weeks super girl. Being a lad. you's should go check that out likes. It has some perfect ass banter from barry. Much like barrys banter from early issues of the justice league. Barry banter. That should be a thing.

AQUAMAN #16

written by geoff johns art by paul pelletier

Quality comics happening right here people. The throne of Atlantis crossover arc continues to chug onwards. Its going well if you ask me. Its got that all important momentum behind it. Importantly its also avoiding the nasty businesses of encompassing too many books as other cross overs of this type do. I'm looking at you green lantern books. Shame on you for you many many poorly defined cross over events. AQUAMAN though. He's a bit of a on again off again lad. He as a character is sort of the most boaring thing about the book. As I've said before he's the least interesting and weakest guy on the aqua ranger team. usely being the normal guy on the team makes you awesome but he dosent carry that vibe off all that well. EVERTHING ELLE'S is awesome though. Like everything. And if its not inherently awesome then its smothered in the awesomeness of something that's near to it. The plots goat plenty packed into it. Revelations and action as well as some much needed cyborg banter. Really cyborg needs to get a whole lot more fun. Yeah it probably sucks that your a cyborg. Cant say what id do in that circumstance. Id most likely build a mech to combine with. I think we all know that actually.

BATMAN INC VOL 2 # 7

written by grant morrison art by chris burnham

oh Morrison. You beautiful bastard.

SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN #2

written by dan slott art by ryan stegman

Superior is totally fine likes. Absolutely nothing rang with it. Now yes ill grant you it dose sound horrible. Doc ock taking over spider-man's body and pete being dead. Yes spoiler. Spoilers for like a month or so people. Who actually dosny know this all ready that all ready reads amazing spider-man ? So yes it may appear horrible on first or even second glance. But and this is a big but. Its totally fine. Its just exactly as well written as the rest of dan slotts run on amazing. It has the same super fun action banter with slotts trademark denseness of stuff happening. Yes ock is a bastard. But he's a fun bastard. I can see not everyone excepting that. Fine. Fair play likes. Again here's the thing. Peter parker is still kicking about as mind ghost. There SHEER utter LADNESS of yami pete. Its very difficult to put into words. There's an actual fuck ton of banter that comes from this issue and yami pete provides about 90% of it. Going out on a limb here but I'm sure I could take a year of superior. Its really no all that bad. Don't let its overtly hateful premise and adjective. scare you away

comic book quickies 31/7/12

Gotta say this was a this was a damn satisfying and hefty week that I thinks to do with green lantern being delayed and popping up here.

THE FLASH #11

Written by Francis Manapul and Brian Buccellato art by Marcus To

Barry Allan is now the bartender for a rouges bar. FUCK YES.

AQUAMAN #11

written by Geoff Johns art by Ivan Reis

Damn likes. Damn ! I get that big goff john's writes reconstructed Saturday morning cartoons with ranger teams as far as the eye can see and magufin based plots. I really love that. Aquaman has been like that but on ACID. But an inconstant acid. Not so this month. The Saturday morning cartoon ness hits you in the face like a sledge hammer this month. A blazingly sunny and warm sledge hammer. The relics held buy aquamans team are the millennium items. I never got that before. I'm so sorry. I failed you an a very basic reference level. Not digging the aquaman killed black mantas dad plot line but it wasn't as big a deal this issue. Its still a deal but not as big a deal. Still damn solid book.

GREEN LANTERN NEW GUARDIANS #11

written by Brain Tony Bedard art by Tyler Kirkham

Its still terrible. But I quite like it. Its shite. Not badly written shite just auld pre awesome shite. Like it be a fine ass comic if it had been released in the seventies or eighties. Its just going on. Still trucking away doing its not being a ranger team thing. I'm still buying it so that's something.

TEEN TITANS #11

written by Scott Lobdell art by Brett Booth

Aye so its still pretty middle of the road clunky stuff. That said it has been getting better every issue thought it still has a long way to go before ill call it a damn gid read. Getting there though. Getting there.

FF #20

written by Jonathan Hickman art by Nick Dragotta

Space ! I always wanted you to go there. Quite liked this issue. Some nice we bits of banter with the ff being the ff which is something I'm always wanting to see.

GREEN LANTERN #11

written by Goff Johns art by Doug Mahnke

Buddy cop based comment !

BATMAN INC VOL 2 #3

written by Grant Morrison art by Chris Burnham

So I here DC were pulling this issue from the shelf's over the Denver shooting. I don't really see why. There's one panel ware a teacher pulls a gun on a classroom. No one gets shot though so un less I'm missing something big id have to say DC are over reacting a wee bit. What can I say about the actual comic. Bat cow makes another ladish appearance. So that's nice.

THE AVENGERS #28

written by Bendis art by Walter Simonson

Gotta admit it. Bendis you magnificent bastard king. You've pulled it back. I opened up this issue and was all like BENDIS whhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhy !!!!!???? see there's no proper speech bubbles in this entire comic. It has like a booky thing at the side that's like narration. I knows. Its so bendis. BUT the actual content of the issue is god damn awesome. To me at least. Red hulk soldiers off to utopia to assassinate Cyclops. Gid solid plan there. The bit that pulled bendis back for me was when rulk de hulks into thunderbolt Ross and infiltrates utopia big boss style. Fuck yes. Admittedly I don't read much hulk comics so this might be a conmen thing but this just blew me away when I read it. I was all ready to rage and then ross's manly moustache pops into view. Well played bendis. Well played. Really I think I have Stockholm syndrome for bendis's avengers. I genuinely don't know how ill feel or cope when he finishes his run.

comic book quickies 16/7/12

Aye well I kind of gave up back there for a while. Not really sure what happened. The reviewer soul just sort of left me. Don't know what happened. Think it might have been the relentless march of time. Dark times. But fear not. I see ware I went wrong. So I set forth to set things right. I secluded myself in a cabin down in the woods then I grew a damn narly beard. Then all I did was chop wood all day long. Training for this day. Montaging. So iv shaken off my funk. Lets talk aboot comics !

SUPERBOY #11

written by Scott Lobdell art R.B Silva

Aye it was gid. My Reviewer powers have returned ! Well to be fair this months issue was pretty fun. IT HAD A GIANT ROBOT. Love me some giant robots. So bunker from the teen titans was guest staring this month hanging out with superboy. They fight crime together. You could almost say they were buddy's. Buddy cops ! Supes gets that S tattoo that he was sporting on the cover of teen titans #1 waaaaaaaay back when the world was young. So that's nice. Only took them them about a year. Really I had completely forgotten aboout that wee detail it was sooo long ago. Nice comic though. It had a nice summers day vibe to it and it definitely had plenty of fighting in it. Well maybe it didn't. But fighting a giant robot counts for double if not triple the amount of awesome points fighting some other random dude would.

FRANKENSTEIN AGENT OF S.H.A.D.E #11

written by Matt Kindt art by Alberto Ponticelli

Wellity welliity. Mad mystery stuff going on here likes. Fairly tempted to say mad mystery shite. Its that mad. Well its not mad. We've all seen madder is what I'm trying to say. We do live on there internet after all. Quite like me some Frankenstein. Plenty of action to be had and franky is such a bad ass lad. Sure there's some times wares he's a bit to grumpy for my likening but I guess that's the character. I still here from certain peoples that they still just don't like the art. Fair enough likes its not for everyone though I do think it fits the tone of the book pretty perfectly. Really it could only be better for me if it was drawn in the 70s scooby doo style. Ayes id pay good money to see that.

BATMAN #11

written by Scott snyder art by Greg capullo

Its the big final of the night of the owls. Batman busts out his special no your insane technique Lets meet back here in a month to see what the worlds like post owly night.

A VS X THE FIGHTS #4

fight 1 written by Rick Remender art by Brandon Peterson

fight 2 written and art by Kaare Andrews

Gotta say I quite like the the fights. Why wouldn't aye. ITS ALL FIGHTANG. Some of the match ups werny the ones I was waiting on the egege of my seat to see but the book knows what its and isn't trying to be anything else's and its definitely got the right SOUL to it. Fight one was damn decent with daredevil vs psylock.e Nice fighting but it did bring up the fight that the x-men are full of shite with the psychic ... eh shite. Psylocke canny mind crush dare devil because of his super senses. So would that protect every avenger with powers like that ? Like would spider-man be able to power through with his spider sense ? Interesting to think about at least. Fight two was bull. BUUUUUUUUUULLLLLL MAN. Thor vs god damn Emma frost. Who really likes Emma frost ? Fan service aye I get that. But DAMN shes HATEFUL. Is that the point internet ? Are we meant to hate her ? Is that the point ? TELL ME !

DEATHSTROKE #11

written and art by Rob Liefeld

The 90s ultra lad dose not disappoints. Well actually to be fair now aye its terrible. But that's fine. I still like it. Yeah the arts probably worse than it was back in the day. Fair enough. The plots dumb and a wee bit boring and contradicts itself every other page. Aye those are totally accurate things about it. But cooooooooooome oooooooooooooooooooooonnnnn its the big lad liefeld ! There's really not much more I can say to convince you. Well I could but they'd be terrible terrible lies.

Short and sweet this week. Gotta relearn my killer skills and develop a work ethic. See ya next time !

comic book quickies 12/6/12

Ahh this week. I don't know what happened to this week. Well I do. But its not that much of an justified reason. I'm lazy all right, I shouldn't have left it this long to write this quickies. But I did. And know all the shame in the world has saddled up to my front door. Its a hefty shame. It weighs down on my shoulders. Like some sort of hefty weighty thing. But you got to know I'm like an auld man theses days. Time flys by so god damn fast. See last Friday. That just happened but it feels so long ago to me. The sinister thing is that the opposite is true. See Christmas ? That feels like last week. Half a year ago feels like last week you see what I mean ? Its sinister this adult time. It trys to mess with your head. Your sitting there aww like I can put off this weeks comic reviews for a wee while then boooooooooooooom its the space year 3029. so my point is I'm just lazy.

ACTION COMICS # 10

written by Grant Morrison art rags morales

Action comics is gid likes. I'm almost positive iv said that before but I'm going to keep on saying that. Mainly because it is gid but also that's all I can really say about it. Overall its pretty gid. Some issues are not all that gid but most are fairly gid and there are some that are damn gid. Its been like a year so I feel I should clarify that when I say gid what I really mean is that its good. I'm Scottish you see. Hopefully iv beaten that fact into your face by know. Action comics might not be everyone's cup of tea. Its weird like. Course its weird its Morrison after all. But damn its weird. Not out of this world. Heh. Out of this world. Superman. Heh. Yeah its not offensively weird and its not too mind bendingly weird. Yet. And I think we can all agree its not Japan weird. No its just got this weird tone to it. And like I said during its first few moths I found it hard to get to grips with that tone. To grapple with it if you will. To grab it with BOTH HANDS. I personally love it. Its like the big guy of week one. The big boss if you get me. Always the first to be read. Like last month the cover was all this issue superman of earth 23. so aye that shites totes getting read first. You know to drink in the madness. Aye so this issue was gid.

DETECTIVE COMICS #10

written and art by Tony S. Daniel

Detective comics. Its quite pish really. Well to me anyway. I'm no a big fan of the overly grim and gritty style of writing's comics. Well that is until I am. Depends how well its done and what type of grim and gritty it is. I'm probably too quick to brand something grim and gritty ill admit that. But see this detective comics run. Its just so god damn brown. Batman for the cod generation. Hmmm that's harsh. And not particularly accurate. Grungy is another word id chuck at it. The art dose have that blurry grungy vibe to it. And that's nice. Cant accuse it of not sticking to its guns in that way. Though I suppose it has gotten just a tad sillier of late was 60s batman grade villains making appearances. There's been this back up story featuring two face. I'm like aye two face he's a bit of a lad. But hoo lee hell I just really don't care. Like at all. AT ALL. If the main story's brown. The back up is some sort of new as yet un discovered ultra brown. Now that dosny make it instantly bad. Its just I go to read it and I cant. Its grittiness is paralysing. So I'm not giving this book a fair chance. I'm sorry. If something epic and blazingly soulful happens suddenly ill let you know.

JUSTICE LEAGUE INTERNATIONAL #10

written by Dan Jurgens art Aaron Lopresti

Why justice league international. Why. You were a lad. No you were more than that. You were MY lad. What happened to you ? You used to be the guy. Back in the day you were more justice leaguey than the main justice league book. But now. God. Look at you. Your about average. HOW DID THIS HAPPEN. You had a gid team. Not a grate team but ll the pieces were there. Plenty of lads. The problem is nobody really got to do anything. Yeah you beat tron lined kirby space miner dude. Fair enough likes but that was a hell of a long time ago. Yeah damn. Those were the glory days. But now its the end of days. The JLI is ending. Depressing. Why DC. Why. Yeah its not been as gid. But harsh likes. Ill miss you JLI you were a lad. Ill never forget that. You are a lad. Manly tears people of the internet. Manly tears

MUDMAN #4

written and art by pual girst

Buy mudman please. Its so very very gid. Its about this guy with mud powers. He's a lad. You knew I was going to say he was a lad and I just did. Right there. Because he is. Hmmm how to explain. Its a very well written and drawn comic. Hmmm well that was short. Its a very British comic. Now not in that novelty all Britain is England and of Britain is London kind of way. No its got that special laid back casual tone to it. And there's this bus likes. The sheer VIBE. Of this bus. It's practically indescribable. Its an actual British bus. Pretty standard stuff I here here you say. Naw pal. That bus made my day. What ever day that was. Last Friday or was it Saturday ? See what I mean about time moving too fast but also way too slow ? So the Paul girst lad. He's knocking the book out the park. Aye very American way of saying its damn fine comic but I feel a book this good deserves it. People should read mudman. Its very gid.

AVENGERS VS X-MEN #5

written by team marvel art by jr jr

So I hope you all remember what Tony stark did during civil war. I remember. You should all remember. He was a god damn Nazi. An honest to god Nazi. I'm not joking and I'm not taking the pish. I want to like iron man. But god damn do marvel make it hard to like that negative zone concentration camp building bastard. Id welcome it if marvel ever tried to do a new fifty two style reboot so that all the insane character ruing things stark did could be washed away. Now I have to say with this issue stark might have puled it back. He built an iron mecha and used it to kill the phoenix. It was glorious. And I know what your saying. I can here you now. But stark has built mecha before. Aye fair enough. Last time I noticed was the hulk buster armour from world war hulk and that was no that flashy. Aye so big lad stark might and I say might just have pulled it back. Oh aye this comic was avengers vs x-men. Sorta forgot about that what with all this mecha talk. Aye so Cyclops's x-men team is the phoenix now. Yes all of them. Yeah Cyclops was a MASSIVE bastard before but god damn he's more unbearable now than ever. Also namor king of the oceans has fire god powers now. Aye naw pal. I hope the ocean takes namor aside at some point down the like and asks him what the shite he's up to. Aye so a quite liked this issue.

comic book quickies 28/5/12

THE FLASH #9

Written by Francis Manapul and Brian Buccellato art by Francis Manapul

Now this was a hole lot of fun. Its the flash vs gorilla grod. Nice classic super hero action but at the same time it drives the plot forward quite a bit. I quite like that the writers are trying to tie the speed force into other aspects of DC continuity. Here they have gorilla city being built around the “light” which is later shown to be the speed force. Well maybe that's always been the case. Research ? What's that ! Also this issue Barry comes down with a case of explosive amnesia. He dose get over it fairly quickly but I personally found the resolution satisfying plus it had the classic sliver age vibe the comic was going for. We find out that the flash's true destiny is to run. He's literally told that he keeps the planet safe just by running. FUCK YES.

AQUAMAN #9

written by Geoff Johns art by Ivan Reis

Silly Aquaman you don't belong in the rainforest. This book is still trundling along nicely. Yeah its mainly the art that's keeping it worth reading but the story's not half bad either. Also the fact that Aquaman has his own book again is crazy cool. This issue we get a little more insight into Aquamans team. This time focusing on the prisoner. Sadly the issue wasn't spent in a welsh village with psychedelic spy action. Its nice to see that every time a new character is introduced they turn out to be a better Aquaman than Aquaman is. By that I mean Aquaman is the generic guy of the aqua family. He's got super strength, can breath underwater and can talk to fish. Cools. Have you seen the shite mera can do ? Crazy tidal wave telekinesis type shite. Not that that's a bad thing. I do like generic red ranger Aquaman but is definitely a thing that exists. Spoilers guys but at the end of the issue were told that in a fit of rage after black manta attacked his dad Aquaman killed black mantas dad. Eh naw pal. I know your trying to make Aquaman all gritty and cool but that's too far geoff. I'm willing to see ware this is going but I really don't know what to think if this is played straight.

GREEN LANTERN NEW GUARDIANS #9

written by Brain Tony Bedard art by Tyler Kirkham

Hmmm. Now this is tricky. I quite liked this issue. In fact it was pretty fun. So that's really cool coming from a book that's been pretty disappointing for most of its run. This issue we finally, FINALLY get the fight between the blue lanterns and the reach that was promised WAY back at the start of the current blue beetle run. And its a lot of fun. I totally forgot that the beetle suits could change form. It feels like an age since that gimmick was used in the actual blue beetle comic. I'm not really sure why but blue lanterns are just plain awesome. Dunno why. There are sort of weak and don't do all that many plot relevant things as well as being space hippies. But dammit there cool. Maybe its the combination of my favourite colour and the emotion hope. So yes the month brought a nice step up in quality that I hope continues.

TEEN TITANS #9

written by Scott Lobdell art by IG Guara

Here's the thing. I missed part three of the culling. It happened in this months issue of legion lost. Now I would have got it had I known that the culling was going to be one of those events ware you had to buy multiple books. But I didn't know soon enough so I missed it. Here's the thing though. I don't feel like I missed anything. Sure things must have happened in that legion lost issue but I'm guessing nothing major. To be fair I have quite enjoyed this wee event. Nothing really blew my mind but nothing really offended me ether and I cant accuse it of taking too long or losing it's momentum. That seams to be a thing about event comics this year. Even marvels avengers vs x-men is running every other week.

FANTASTIC FOUR #606

written by Jonathan Hickman art by Ron Garney

Damn there's no slowing down these fantastic four books likes. Last week we had an awesome if a little heavy point one issue and now just a week later we have this crazy fun fantastic voyage one and done standalone issue. That's all this issue really is, a fantastic voyage to the centre of the fantastic fours post man willie lumkins brain to kill some cancer dead. Its a simple story but its done just so damn well. Every point plot and trope you'd expect to see is here and played straight. Gloriously straight. Its one of those issues ware the fantastic four do very fantastic four-ish things and the fantastic voyage is one of those story's you or at least I Imagen happen to the four all the god damn time.

BATMAN INC SEASON 2 #1

written by grant Morrison art by Chris Burnham

This was AMAZING. I knew it would be and it more than lived up to my expectations. Which is rare. Most times I over hype things in my head. This did have a tough act to follow. The main bat book has been god damn spectacular for nine solid months. Never doubt Morrison though. This was crazy awesome. Its got batman and robin being batman and robin. Fighting crime. HELLS TO THE GOD DAMN BELLS. Plot wise leviathan is starting to take control of Gotham and has put a bounty out on the head of Damien Wayne. That's the basic plot summery but that in no way dose it justice. Every page is overflowing with STUFF happening. Both visually and with glorious dialogue. So I'm really looking forward to the months to come as we now have two dam gid bat books with both this and synders batman. Yeah I here good things about batman and robin but meh I dropped that back at issue one. I gave it a chance and it was too un fun. So Morrison's bat god is back ! Canny wait for more.

comic book quickies 26/4/12

THE FLASH #8

Written by Francis Manapul and Brian Buccellato art by Francis Manapul

The flash is trapped in the speed force and dose battle with a super powered WW2 fighter pilot. Now that's some damn awesome stuff happening right there. The explanation of the speed force is a wee bit clunky though yeah I guess it is being told by a mad man but the issue sort of went back and forth on what was causing the flash's current problems and what he is in relation to the speed force. Well it felt like it did at least to me anyway. The new kinda villain turbine was pretty cool. Just a guy trying to get home to his own time. In an oddly dick move from Barry he provokes turbine in to attacking him by telling him he cant go home to the 40s. Yeah Barry gives him a timey whimey reason but still man. Dick move Barry. Dick move. And as always the art is AMAZING and really gets a chance to shine with all the weird background swirly dimension thingys happening.

AQUAMAN #8

written by Geoff Johns art by Ivan Reis

How cool is it that aquaman has his own book again ? Pretty sweet likes. So six years ago aquaman was a 90s anti hero. Cool I can dig it. Now not only was he a 90s anti hero he had his own team of 90s anti heroes. Ok fair enough. Now not only was aquaman the red ranger of that team but as shown so far he was the biggest bastard on the team. Yeah sometimes you can go to far trying to make aquaman a bad ass. Amazingly team aquaman turn out to be pretty cool guys, choosing to save civilians over taken revenge on the villain there chasing. Well played goff man. The issue still has the same problem that the book has had from the start, that being issues fly by too fast. Though I guess that's a good thing always wanting more from the comic after putting it down. Well played indeed. The best thing about the book continues to be the art. Is just so god damn warm and summery.

GREEN LANTERN NEW GUARDIANS #8

written by Brain Tony Bedard art by Tyler Kirkham

Its pish. But I'm still reading it. I don't know why. Tradition I guess ? Nostalgia for when the world was young and news of a lantern ranger book was world rocking ? Yeah that sounds about right. I spose you could say this issue was better than the lasts few that came before it what with it being a sort of spotlight issue for yellow lantern what's his name. Its eight months in and I DONT KNOW HIS NAME. Well we get an issue of what's his name being buddy cops with the weaponer of qward. Yeah ok that was pretty fun. And oh yeah the sinestro corps don't exist any more. That happened and I totally forgot about it. In my head I still thought they were kicking about in space some ware. But oh wells I'm sure they will be back one day. The book is still even this far in wasting it potential as the lantern rangers book. They don't feel like a team in anyway with them always bickering amongst themselves. Yeah I get that's one of the things that happen with super teams but there's a difference between bickering and banter and the team has yet to reach the fun banter stage. The lantern rangers aren't even really a team any more by the end of the issue with each member splitting off to do there own thing. Yeah wasted potential.

TEEN TITANS #8

written by Scott Lobdell art by IG Guara

Things get mind screwy this issue when the titans bring the beat down to “omen” but sadly its the annoying kind of mind screw not the interesting thought provoking kind. Well this was a struggle to get through. Now it wasny baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad. Its just that the book is so mellow dramatic with everyone being so cheesy in they way they talk. Except when they don't. Which is even more annoying. Its still one of those meh middle of the road books that shows glimpse of potential that stop me from dropping it. Plus the titans new costumes all have tron lines awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww yeah.

FF #17

written by Jonathan Hickman art by Nick Dragotta

SPIDERMAN AND THE HUMAN TORCH ARE ROOMMATES. HILARITY ENSUES. !!!!!

AVENGERS VS X-MEN THE FIGHTS #1

iron man vs magneto written by Jason Aaron art by Adam Kubert
the thing vs namor written by Kathryn Immonen art by Stuart Immonen

Awww yessssssss. Finally ! A comic all about fighting. Hell the god damn yes !!! Now I know I said the fighting over in the main avengers vs x-men book were boring. Now that's because they were. Very boring even. Buts that's because they wernt really proper fights but the set up for fights. Now guess that's what the fights are like in most event comics and every event has a thousand god damn tie in comics to expand those fights but its nice to have a dedicated comic that is all just fights. The comic is split into two fights the first being iron man vs magneto. Now this went down exactly just like I thought it would what with iron man's non metallic armour though it dose get a fair bit crazier than I thought it would with mag's making his own suit of power armour out of satellite's and iron man using the magnetic POWAH of Jupiter. Yeah shit gets a little crazy all right. A damn gid fight if a little clunky in places. The second fight is the thing vs namor the submariner. Aye not the first guys that spring to mind when I think avengers or x-men but damn awesome none the less. This fight had a VERY old school feel with both combatants trading witty one liners with each other that got me genuinely laughing. Now maybe its just me but with this fight taking place in water it made it so much more summery and that's very important for an event comic at least in my opinion. So yeah the fights. SURPRISINGLY worth it.

The once again late comic book quickies 30/3/12

THE FLASH #7

Written by Francis Manapul and Brian Buccellato art by Francis Manapul

So there hasn't been a B artist yet. How balls to the wall awesome is that ? dosent that just rock your soul ? That manapul is one hell of a manly artist all right. Manly like that auld aquaman artist down there. Week four is a damn fine looking week all right. DAMN fine. Those other weeks look good but they can vary wildly in quality but week four has these two fine lads leading the way. As you can see I have very little to say about the flash this week. Mainly because its so good. I know that shouldn't be a problem but there's never anything insane that happens to talk about. Like so far nothing like super adaptoid Norman Osborn pink hulk has happened. So that's a plus. Or maybe that's a negative. I'm not sure.

AQUAMAN #7

written by Geoff Johns art by Ivan Reis

So aquaman puts a team together. Or did in the past at least. There called the other's. Or at least the arc is. The comics not very clear on that. I'm not a lost man but I feel there's something going on here. This out of nowhere team malarkey dosent matter at all. LIKE AT ALL. You know why ? BECAUSE AQUAMAN PULLS A BOAT TO SHORE. That's right, anchor wrapped around him like a pimp. That aquaman. What a nautical LAD. This art by the way. Its KILLER. I mean holy god damn hell is it KILLER. You'd think that after seven long issues they'd have to have a B artist at some point. But nope there just powering on and fighting through the pain. Maybe the did change up the artist at some point and I just didn't notice. Nah that would be madness. MADNESS. There just something so ... warm about the art. Its just so cosy. Warm and cosy. Yeah.

TEEN TITANS #7

written by Scott Lobdell art by Brett Booth

Teen titans is still one of those guhhhhh books. Its not bad but its not gid. I feel like I said this last month. Well that's kind of my point. Its still not gid. No that sounds too harsh. Or harsh. Too harsh sounds too much. Its clunky. I spose that's the right way to put it. That said what gets me is that there's points in each issue ware its not clunky and actually pretty grate, like whenever bunker is genre savvy and that combined with its general not badness stops me from dropping it. This issue the titians INFILTRATE n.o.w.h.e.r.e.s base. Thats pretty rocking likes. Heh. Clunky review.

FF #13

written by Jonathan Hickman art by Nick Dragotta and Steve Epting

DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM

LIVES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THE AVENGERS #24.1.1

written by Brian Michael Bendis art by Brandon Peterson

Right bendis. I know your that guy. That's cool, its your thing. But bendis please. Stop being that guy. I think we're all happy to just pretend that a lot of stuff never happened. Stop reopening old wounds. Since the vision is back in the world of the living we have to be reminded of avengers disassembled. Which is such a downer. We also have to deal with the visions PAIN. Because is wife sorta killed him using she hulk. Yeah. Ill let him get away with that one. Well the vision in a pretty ballsy move calls out magneto for his shit. It go's pretty well until you know, that hole master of magnetism thing kicks in. you get that the visions a robot right ? A damn kick ass 70s robot. I'm not a xmen fan and don't think anyone in the world has enough money to keep up with all the x books but id like to know two things. Why is colossus bald ? And when did magneto become solidus snake? Captain America was a total punk this issue. I don't mean that in a good way. This visions having a ruff day and caps giving him the Osborne pointy finger. Un cool bendis. Again avengers was a pretty mixed bag. It had some nice moments like the vision hugging and making up with she hulk but that gets countered with stuff like pointy finger punk cap.
