Only three comics this week . A sad heft indeed.
GREEN LANTERN #6
written by Geoff Johns art by Mike Choi
Sinestro go's all lone wolf cop as Hal adjusts to normal life again in an interlude issue. Ohhh the art change. Its fair to say that its more than a wee bit jarring. Now it is a in-between issue so no big deal in the long run but it did take me out of the story just a wee bit too much. Not that the story is all that mind blowing on its own. Yeah Hal shows that he's still bad ass without the ring but by the end of the issue he's a lantern again. So yeah. Sinestro is off in space doing spacey things with space people. In space. The issue sets up that sinestro is now aware of the plan guardians of the universe to destroy the green lanterns. I imagine in his head he's all like naw little blue dudes that's MA job! One really cool point that came up was some buddy cop character development for sinestro in that he has a begrudging moment of respect for Hal. See at this point they should just make Sinestro like Dr doom currently is over in the fantastic books. You know basically a good guy. See he is the strict no nonsense half of the buddy cop duo but he's still bloody space Hitler and why he's still a green lantern makes no real sense. See doom gets away with being on the FF for two reasons. One he's Dr doom and two its been like over a year and he hasn't done anything that even looks like betraying the team. Sinestro though just hasn't got to that place yet.
SUPERBOY #6
written by Scott Lobdell art R.B Silva
Superboy fights supergirl. Aww yeah. Yup that's all I need to enjoy a comic. None of this emo-shan pish. Just fighty fighting. Is there anybody out there that dosny like this kind of thing ? Well yeah of course there is. Damn cool kids and there trendy no fighting talky comics. Makes me sick really. I do like this current superboy run but I am getting a wee bit sick of the n.o.w.h.e.r.e plot. You could say its going nowhere. Ohohohohohoho. Well played me. But yeah not digging the hole secrets and lies feel its got going on. Superboy just keeps doing what he's told by the the obviously evil organisation then starts questioning what he's doing then go's back to the evil organisation. PICK A GOD DAMN SIDE. I guess he is like two weeks old so for now I'm letting it slide. So what did destroy krypton ? Its not something iv ever thought to look up I just kinda assumed it was a natural disaster type thing but when superboy reads super girls memory's there's a text box that says the planet was ravaged by war. Weird right ? Also there was a clone uprising that's used as a plot point as superboy is a half human clone thingy or as a super girl puts it an abomination. Yeah so that krypton not as paradise like as I thought. To be fair though I'm not too up to date with superman continuity but its still a bit odd to me.
FRANKENSTEIN AGENT OF S.H.A.D.E #6
written by Jeff Lemire art by Alberto Ponticelli
Frankenstein fought in the Vietnam war. You win DC. You win the decade. There's nothing marvel can come up with that's more awesome than Frankenstein serving in nam. The issue is about franky and the creature commandos being sent to nam to assassinate col. Quantum, a very powerful Dr Manhattan like super hero that franky fought alongside during the war. He's basically red Dr Manhattan but with a lot more humanity as he eventually leaves the army as he cant take all the killing. So that's cool but in the present days he's mutated and has killed thousands after going a tad mad. It really pretty tragic as franky has to mercy kill him. Now that was only the B plot as back at base the synthetic workforce starts an uprising that's vaguely smiler to that flesh two parter story in the last season of Dr who. A DAMN fine comic that still continues to be one of the surprise hits of the new 52 for me.
